Fast or Not

Hi guys today i decided to bring Gilbert to surgery and doctor told me he has to fast 8 hours before surgery (he still can drink, but cant eat) but what i search on internet they said its dangerous for hamster to fast 8 hours? Tho im not believing internet 100% im still asking my doctor confirmation, but do you guys ever have any experience in this? Thank you!
