I wonder if anyone is brave enough to try them?!
I've tried them. I did a course on public speaking once for interest and my final presentation was a five minute talk on any topic. A couple of my audience agreed to eat one of I did. They're OK but shelly and dry 😐

They don't have much meat to them, mainly crispy spicy exoskeleton. A bit like peanut skins. I suspect that frying the tails in butter while they are fresh might be a more traditional way of eating them 🐛
 
Don't know if it's being used outside the States, but powdered mealworm has been in use for years here to add protein to processed food.

You guys and your real food...
