Hamster losing fur on rear and neck :(

Oh that's what I meant, i won't leave her in a cage without bedding, just for the ride to/from the vet for the dose

Ah I didn't realise you had to take her to the vet for the dose - I thought it was something you could apply yourself. Maybe you could use fleece in the pet carrier instead of bedding? Or a fleece hide? Like a snooze cube. I don't think she'd like being in a hard, empty pet carrier. Maybe you could take a plastic box with you and then after the dose you could maybe wait at the vets for it to dry with her in the plastic storage box, and then pop her back in the pet carrier with cosy bedding? When I took my robo to the vets I used to take a plastic storage box and put a mat in the bottom and a hide and some food, so he could run around in it while the vet looked at him (also to make sure he didn't jump off the table).

Not a bad idea, will probably do that. She's such a sweetheart and I wish I could do more for her right now but hopefully the mousse will ease the pain on her skin and disenfect the wounds, and given some time to rest and some fresh treats she will feel a little better at least

They gave me a DuoxoS3 calm mousse that's supposedly safe for ingestion that I can rub on her skin, hopefully that will reduce some of the itchiness

again, something typically used for dogs and cats. starting to get worried that this won't be good for her but i guess if i just use a very small amount it should be okay

i'm not finding anything online anyway specifically designed for hamsters, it's probably the same ingredients anyway. i'll still just do very small amounts and supposedly it tastes bad so she won't want to ingest it anyway

There is usually only dog or cat medicine available for hamsters - not really anything licensed for hamsters and it's at the vet's discretion - it's the dosage that counts though.

It says 1 pump per 2 pounds for a cat, and she's def not 2 pounds so i'll just do a very small amount - probably just like a pea sized amount just to soothe the flaky skin if she'll let me
apply it

Some maths needed :) 2lbs is about 906 grammes. The average hamster is about 150 grammes. Not sure what yours weighs. But it works out about a sixth of a pump sized amount. You could do a pump amount onto a surface and divide it into 6 parts and use one of those parts. But then a cat is also bigger than a hamster and it's maybe intended to spread over a larger surface, so if a pea sized amount is less than a one sixth part, then yes I would just use a pea sized amount.
