Hamster Wheels 2026

I’m so sorry RIP Tass x

Thank you. She was pts at home in June 2021. It was a beautiful experience. She had been quite unwell (cancer) and after she has settled against my leg (I was sitting on the floor next to her) the vet gave her an injection to relax her. She gave a little sigh and cuddled in deeper. The next injection was the final one. It was lovely to know that she passed away surrounded by those she loved, including my elderly labrador, Jojo (rip) and my very young poodle puppy, Rusty.

I've just updated the wheels thread for 2025, with current prices (although they do keep varying) and also because some wheels aren't available any more and I've added a couple more options as well. I've also added Amazon affiliate links for the ones available from Amazon :-) Which means if anyone buys a wheel from this page and uses one of those links, it helps support forum running costs :-)

If anyone knows of any more current good wheels available, please post them here, in case I've missed any. But generally there seems to be a bit less choice than last year. The Niteangel cloud wheel is no longer available on Amazon Uk (it might be available direct from Exotic nutrition in the Us, - I haven't checked, but it would have import costs and quite high delivery costs as well. The largest acrylic Bucatstate wheel doesn't seem to be available now either (although maybe that's because it had a slippery running surface!). They 9" silent runner, I can't find in stock anywhere any more - but the deeper track cream and moonrunner green ones are available on Amazon. (Maybe they became more popular than the cloud wheel - similar but without the cork).

If I've missed anything off, please let me know!
What do you think of this saucer type wheel?

There is a link on the above web page to see a Syrian running on the wheel.

I wonder if you think if this one is safe for the hamster's back and joints, if one already has an existing plastic saucer wheel, if they could modify it by gluing the same size cork round used for plants to the saucer so that it is safe for the back and joints?

It's not a good idea for a main wheel - they need an upright wheel for a main wheel - I sometimes use a flying saucer in the playpen as an additional wheel. I'm not sure if the one you linked is the same make as one I sent for once, but the one I sent for was useless! The disc scraped on the base when spinning - I guess the bearings weren't strong enough - I sent mine back for a refund.

Just a quick update to say the Pets at home wheel we have has not lasted a week!

Just gave it a little spin to check it and so glad I did- The wheel has come off the bearing So it’s wobbly and clunking around. You can push it back on but I don’t feel it’s wise to let her use it again.

very frustrating as it seemed so good for the price and Maggie looked lovey and flat across the top line when running in it as it’s so big.

Can’t find my receipt but will try and return to PAH when I can (I’m aprox 100
Miles away from a store!). It may be workable if we put extra washers in to hold the plastic onto the bearing but I’m just not sure I can be bothered with the possibility of it going wrong with her running in it.

I’ve put her trixie back in for now. 😩

Sorry to hear this, how annoying and disappointing. It looked like such a nice wheel. They are quite helpful so you will probably get a refund, but it is still very unfortunate. Wheels are so important to hamsters 🙁

They were great about us returning the cage we got which was far too small. Not sure if I’ll manage without the receipt though. But will try

Such a shame. Might just be bad luck with this one rather than a brand fault I guess. She was loving running in it too.

I have 2 silent runners for my hammies. FYI they come in a super-cool glow-in-the-dark moonglow option ;) It's fun to watch them spin in the dark!
That must be lovely, I love luminous decorations 🌝🐾

Really sorry about that - do try for a refund. Did you buy it online? Maybe I should take it off the list! The trixie wheel will probably last a long time - but it's not silent. Although they are usually pretty quiet if you can site it somewhere it won't bang against anything! One of my syrians has one.

It’s just annoying. It’s only been used a few days. Maybe I just got a dud.

Bought it in store. Think I’ve thrown the receipt out unfortunately. I’ll see what the say though. They might offer to replace/refund or store credit.

Agree the Trixie is not silent but it’s not overly noisy and she’s not in our bedroom so noise isn’t a big concern (unless it’s better for them if it’s quieter?) I’m hoping it won’t slide about too much. I’ve changed the platform since it was last used 🤞🏻

The Omlet wheel is nice but it fits their own cage or is free standing. I don't know how it is as a free standing wheel. It may be smaller than the Trixie 🎡

I have the free standing Omlet wheel - it's very nice and also silent. However it is only a 27cm wheel. It's ok but if a hamster grew quite large it may not be big enough.

However my Syrian Higgins seemed fine in it in the playpen :-) So fine unless it's a particularly large hamster.

Yes, I think it's fine for small hamsters and light use. It's probably fine for heavier use by dwarfies

And medium hamsters :-) I think it's a good size. It's not quite 11" - it's a 10.6" wheel - which is ok for most hamsters - some will do better with something larger.
