Henry

They do have dreams, good and bad. It also seemed to help, Henry now feels safe enough to sleep in his log for the first time, he is all tuckered out

Aww poor Henry. I have heard some people say they have heard their dwarf hamster scream in their sleep so I always imagined they must be having a nightmare. Luckily you were there to comfort Henry. That is such a cute picture of him sleeping.

I've seen a few videos of rescue hams with past trauma that would cry in their sleep as well, it's just so sad to witness. I've also heard Henry have happy dreams a number of times, once I saw him eating an imaginary protein stick in his sleep. His little paws were moving and he was munching as well, it was too cute.

Aww! That is the sweetest thing ever! 😍

Henry's been a super good boy this week, he's finally learned to be gentle with nibbles. Today he surprised me in the morning and climbed up my arm onto the couch. Ended up with him sitting on the pumpkin seed bag in my lap, got to pet him a bit.

In the evening we did a scavenger hunt with his favorite sprays.

Flax Hunt

Sensible boy not biting the human with the bag of pumpkin seeds :) It sounds nice having him on your lap. He’s rally enjoying that flax and he listened to you! Was he eating the stalks as well?! I couldn’t see well - or maybe it was an out of sight flax head. I wish I could have Molly on my knee but she’s too fast.

He only eats the seeds, and we've officially tried every spray in that set of 8. The flax was the only one he liked, so I know what to get him in the future.

I finally learned what Henry's been so adamant to tell me the past few days, his wheel had a slight squeak at hi speeds and he didn't like it. After treat & play time today, he hopped on the wheel and then back over to paw at me a few times. When I started fixing it for him, he parked on the bendy bridge and intently stared at it. It was so adorable, wish I'd filmed it. He's a little smartie, hamsters are brighter than they get credit for.

Flax is usually a favourite with all of them even if they don’t bother with the others.
Just wondered if Henry’s ever had a whimzee toothbrush? I’m sure he’d love those too.

He’s sounds very sweet & clever with his wheel, I’ve never had one be bothered by a noisy wheel, it’s usually me that had a problem with them & the hams couldn’t care less!

They really are clever little things aren't they :-) I love it when they communicate so well and you can see they are intelligent in that way. What always makes me laugh though, is how they can be super intelligent and communicative and clever, and then do really daft things like jump off something too high like a lemming. Although I've found most are a bit cautious at first about jumping off things. Raffy is still.

Henry is now a bit bored of his same old treat toys, he said no to both and pawed at an eaten flax spray to tell me he wanted a scavenger hunt tonight. We also did an out of bin adventure, but he's still learning the taxi. He's pawing at the bin tons lately, and asking for me to come over earlier. I will have to keep up with new ways for him to have fun.

I did get a chance to weigh him, and he's shockingly down to 66 grams! The vita garden is doing wonders, plus he's been exercising more lately. He seems happier than ever, and so glad he's at a healthy weight now.
