Kinda wanna get Laundry Hamper a tiny toy piano/keyboard (FOR SUPERVISED PLAYPEN TIME ONLY!) in honor of Neil Who Banged Out The Tunes, but I don't know how he (a Syrian, for the record) would react to being that close to music (I'd turn the volume down low). I've played various songs in the same room as him all week and he's good at ignoring, but I'm curious as to what kind of stimulation he would get if he were to run across a keyboard and here the ting of a piano from it. If it's bad for him or he's just likely to ignore it, I'll obviously pass on the idea. But just curious and looking for playpen ideas.

I think hamsters' hearing is sensitive that it would be better not to have a musical instrument in the playpen. You can talk gently to him though 🙂

They do respond to music :-) Especially soft lullabies and classical music. As for a toy piano I expect he would climb on or over it and try to nibble it. But I doubt he'd sit still and play it. But - you never know! If he is hearing piano music in the background (tchaikovsky's 1st piano concerto eg or something more modern), and he realises it makes a sound when he presses it .........

There is a video on youtube of a cat that plays the piano. It copied it's owner.
