Hi everyone! We lost our wee best pal Harry (golden syrian on the left) in December and got the lovely Shelby in January (dark/white female syrian on the right). I didn’t want a female to be honest as was concerned about temperament and Harry was very laid back however they were misgendered in the pet store (of course they were
) and kids had already chosen her and played with her by the time staff realised their mistake.
Any good hamster owner will understand why we couldn’t ‘unpick’ her at that point. It’s a running joke that she was so desperate to come home with us that she tricked them into thinking she was a boy.
She was a right show off from the get go and kids singled her out straight away. Anyway, fast forward a couple of months and her ladyship has just chewed right through the plastic base of her cage and very nearly escaped. Females are definitely difficult to satisfy!
Cage has been skipped and she is now in a temp space while we await delivery of the 3.0 which I’m hoping she will be secure in! I will need advice on how to set up a large tank effectively so any tips welcome! Have been enjoying the forum so far so thanks for having us!
