That does sound more worrying & it always seems such a long time when you have to wait for your appointment but 🤞it’s something easily treatable.

Glad to report that Jack is fine. Vet thinks he ate something sharp that scratched his intestine causing a bleed.

She gave him a thorough examination with the help of a nurse and could not feel anything that shouldn't be there. Jack pooped and they looked normal too.

Jack wasn't happy and squeaked the place down but didn't bite.
Vet prescribed four days of metacam in case he has some discomfort.

He wasn't traumatized by the experience and went straight to bed. Now he's in the playground.

I have no idea what he could have eaten that would have caused this. I vacuum the freeroaming area every time before i let anyone out and check hidden areas regularly. Could have been a splinter from nibbling wood or something sharp in a herb mix but i check those as well.

Thank goodness! I am so happy for you and little Jack. It is great he has recovered from the appointment and feels able to go in his playground. I imagine it would be from chewing up some wood. You take such great care to make everything safe for your hamsters.

Thanks. They have these large wooden steps in the playground i got from Zooplus. Lately they have been chewing on it. All of them.
It's almost like one starts doing something silly and then the rest joins in.

It could be those steps then. Aren't hamsters funny not wanting to chew on actual chew toys but they will chew on things they are not supposed too.

Really glad to hear that Jack’s ok & it’s nothing serious, & that he wasn’t overly bothered by his vet trip.
It sounds very similar to what happened to my Zylvan in a way, he had an abscess under his chin & the vet thought something sharp had cut his throat, same as you I couldn’t really think what would have caused it, splinters from wood are a possibility if he has been chewing on that, the only thing I could imagine with Zyl was maybe a sharp husk on a seed but never really knew. Main thing is he’s ok & he’ll probably enjoy the metacam too!

No, we'll never know. It's just one of those freak things that happen.

He looks very well in the playpen :) Glad it was nothing serious. At least chewing wood will be good for his teeth!

Funny how he keeps going into that tube. It was Rory's who loved it too.

Glad Jack is back home with a clean bill of health.

I think they all love those hyacinth tunnels!

Jack's been in the dig box for ages. Sniffing for hidden food, grooming and generally hanging out.

For a moment I thought I saw two matching hamsters in there! Saw the right hand photo first. Then realised it was a coconut lol. Not me seeing double of Jack :ROFLMAO:. He looks to be busy and enjoying himself.

Hear this noise in the background? That's Jack chewing cardboard and so is Clive because it's Lilly's turn to be out.

The boys are behaving like toddlers at the moment and not like middle aged men.

That looks great! That little face :)

I turned the ceiling light on to take a photo. Don't think he was happy about that. I have lamps on when the hamsters are out to play and only use the ceiling light briefly to take a photo.
