Sounds fabulous, Lillys going to love it. Fingers crossed for the plaza you’ve spotted. 👍

Lilly asked to come out at 07.45 and freeroamed. My OH was delighted that she accepted him as her taxi. The boys were still up next door sniffing for their porridge so Lilly wanted to sit on my hand for a while to get a better view. Edwina used to do that.

Lilly run around and run on various wheels before digging in the coco soil box today. She does everything so enthusiastically that she fell over backwards while meerkating. Couldn't help but laugh.

She's back in her cage now and nibbling on a treat. I think a crock is her favourite and she only gets one now and again. She runs around with it first all excited and then sits down to eat. I can imagine that she looks like me eating an omelette roll. Savouring it.

Love reading about her antics, sorry Lily but I had to laugh too at the falling meerkat! 🤭
She really is enjoying that croc, I don’t think I’ve seen her sit still for that long before!

Aww, another female dwarfie who loves your OH. :) She is always up to something and being busy. It must be so fun watching her.

I bought a new Plaza (£80) at the local petshop today which had already been assembled. I had to take it apart and start again because they hadn't done it properly.

Next thing i opened and closed the door which turned out not to be secure. One side was fine but the other wasn't closing securely so i returned it and got a refund.

I sourced a second hand Plaza for £40 but that's a 100 miles plus round trip away and now i'm reluctant to travel the distance in case it isn't 100% either. Hmm. Unsure what to do.

I could wait until a 100cm cage comes up in my area but the choice of 100cm cages is very limited, even buying new.

Does anybody know when the new 120cm Plaza will be available? Would save me the job of adding a top door or bigger front door because there is no 100cm cage available that suits my requirements.

Oh what a shame. I do not think I would travel the 100 miles to try to get the second hand one as often people sell cages with a kind of fault but do not mention that.

Perhaps it is worth emailing the company to ask when the new 120cm Plaza is coming out?

I already did that :) Savic said - contact Pets at Home in a few months time (which would probably be May June time maybe) - they said later this year. It has only just gone on sale in December and not in the Uk yet.

Lily does seem to love that treat! I have just recently given them to our two. Pip's disappeared - I assume he ate it. Raffy ignored his with disdain lol. But he was out of the cage and had other things to do. I noticed he came back to it the following night though but didn't seem so sure about it. Perhaps slightly alarming to him that it wasn't solid.

Thanks to Elusive for that tip about crock treats!

Maybe have a look out for a second hand Barney cage Beryl? :) Although they don't come up that often. There were two recently. But they don't have a big front door. They do have a big door on top though and two smaller front doors - which can work with a confident hamster.

Cage prices are ridiculous these days.

Yes, i've come across Barneys but i know that small front doors would frustrate me so much i'd end up donating it.

Same with a top opening only cage. I had them but got rid of them.

I’m exactly the same with cages, even the mamble with it’s two not quite so small front doors drove me nuts!

I took the MouseBro wheel out that sat in the middle, took a shelf out and attached the Silent Spinner to the bars. This opened up more space for enrichment and Lilly can still use her tube runs and access the back shelves.
I haven't seen her use the MouseBro wheel much so it could be that she prefers an enclosed wheel. We'll see how it goes. Not sure she likes the new hide either but at least there's space now for something if she doesn't.

May be a better size for a little chunk like her.

Thanks. I think the main issue was the location of the wheel and my reluctance to make changes trying to improve things.

The mat in front of the wheel acts a bit like the shelf i took out and provides a flat surface for food and water. Easy to tuck millet sprays into the mat which stops them from falling over. Something i learnt today by chance.

Lilly wasn't bothered by the slight changes. Everything is fine for Lilly as long as there's food.

You have made such great changes to make things perfect for Lilly. I find your set ups and ideas so creative.

That looks great! I look forward to seeing what Lilly makes of it. :)

Love this, it looks fab. Hope Lilly enjoys it. Hams would go wild for the peanut!

Lilly looks good in the silent spinner wheel. 👍
