Well, i had to go out and tricked Lilly. I put food in her taxi and held it right under her nose. Of course Lilly acted on instinct and walked straight in. Once in her cage she must have realized that she had been tricked and threw a tantrum.

I don't think Lilly will fall for that trick again. 🤣

Maybe Lilly heard you talking about another female hamster...
Lilly has been out since 07.00 but i need to get ready to collect this Syrian girl mentioned in the second chance hamsters thread! She is so strong willed and won't let me pick her up until she wants to get picked up.

Lilly: I'm the only female hamster you need. You're not going anywhere.

The one and only advantage of the time change is that Lilly wants out at 07.00 now.

There had to be a silver lining somewhere!
Hello Lilly lovely to see you busy girl 😍

Lilly looks like she is having so much fun. That looks so enriching.🙂

To tidy up the playbox is one of my jobs today. I'm off to the reptile shop for more coco soil.
Lilly came running back to me to sit on my hand for a while which is ever so cute and then went back for some serious digging in the beech chips box.
We both stood there watching her almost disappear into a big hole.
To use a small bin cage as a digging area was definitely one of my better ideas.

Lilly is just adorable! She has such a wonderful bond with you. I agree, your digging area was a fantastic idea.

This small reptile shop i go to has such a good variety of substrates that i find it hard to choose.
I decided against coco soil and was undecided between coarse coco, bark or cork. I opted for cork granules in the end.

Interesting thing was that they had 6l Komodo cork at £12.99 on the reptile shelves and the same from Critter's Choice on the rodent shelves. Happypet is the distributor of both Komodo and Critter's Choice so the cork granules must be the same product but marketed for different animals.

The cork granules sound like a good idea. I think it’s quite common for large companies to market the same product for different animals under different names & sometimes at different prices too.

Sounds like a really great reptile shop you go to. Its lovely offering a range of substrates. Lucky hamsters. 🙂

She is such a vigorous little digger! Lovely she comes to sit on n your hand. It sounds like a real bond there :)

A bin for digging is a great idea and I think cork granules is a good choice too.

First time i managed to get all the pieces into the snuffle box. Took a photo of the tidy playbox as Lilly will rearrange it. Sadly, i'm at work tonight so she'll have to wait till i get home.

That looks amazing Beryl! I cannot wait to see what the hamsters think of it.

Lilly will absolutely love that snuffle box. That will keep her busy for ages.

She will love that! I wonder if dwarfs enjoy this kind of thing more than Syrians? How do your Syrians react? I can just imagine mine just ignoring it and trying to get out of the box - but then I haven't tried!

That does look amazing Beryl, Lilly will have the time of her life in there, I can imagine the mess alreeady!
