How large is the space she can free roam in? We don't have much space currently fit for this, but I think with some planning we could create something.

Sorry for late reply, i was busy with the 7 days thread.
It is a fairly large area i hamster proofed. The upstairs landing, the bathroom and an approx 4m x 4m room.
I have a slot in barrier panel to section off the landing from the room as Lilly prefers running around the room anyway.

Lilly got my OH to let her out this morning and was running around in the hamster room. She kept running back to me and climbed up my ankle then run up my leg onto my lap. Picked her up, chatted to and stroked her for a while and then put her back. Lilly not happy and came straight back to her door so let her out again.
Same thing happened and then it dawned on me what she was trying to tell me.
There was no food left hidden in the digging boxes (Clive's pouches were rather full last night)!
Got a little Harry Hamster and mixed it into the dig box. Lilly started to dig enthusiastically and eventually hopped out with food in her pouches looking for me.
Put her back and she happily run into the back of her cage. Haven't seen her since.

Lilly is such a focused little hamster. The boys would have walked off and done something else but Lilly had digging for food on her mind. She's clever enough to communicate this to her human.

Oh well done Lilly, you got there in the end! She is clever & very determined to get what she wants 😍

Aw how clever and cute! You are also clever to realise what she wanted Beryl.

I really struggle to locate Lilly's toilet and have no idea where she pees.
A few days ago she chucked poops and bedding out of her bedroom for me to clear up but it didn't smell.

I checked her loft today and kept sniffing handsful of aspen replacing some i thought were faintly whiffy. She popped her head out of her bedroom and run out to chase me away. I had to back off because she's territorial and not the kind of dwarf to mess with.
Lilly then checked absolutely everything in her loft.

She is such a delight to watch. You cannot help but smile while watching her.

I know. No wonder i get nothing done around the house. I spend so much time watching the hamsters, lol.

She is a bundle of endless energy!

I always love hearing about what Lilly has been up to, she's such a character! It's a shame hamsters have a reputation for not being very smart, Lilly obviously has a lot going on in her little brain!

I think a lot of that reputation has to do with humans not being smart enough to spend time with their hamsters to get to know them.

This is so adorable. Setting up a more permanent or reliable play space is definitely a goal of ours!

This morning my OH woke and said 'what is that?'

It was Lilly rolling in a tube making her raccoon (good description Maz) noises, lots of them.

I just listened to a clip of a racoon making noise and it does sound like Lilly!

Lilly is going through her calmer phase again and had gone to bed before my OH showed up with her taxi. He sounded a bit disappointed.

Lilly saying "I'm up so everyone should be up".
