Hi , I have just joined. I have 4 roborovski hamsters at the moment. It all started when my partner wanted a pet , decided on a hamster , and got a black Syrian called Penny. ( Now passed , sadly ). We were in pets at home looking for stuff for penny and I saw two roborovski hamsters running around together in their enclosure. They were soooo cute. I wanted to get them, but after ending up with 17 hamsters , years ago , when my kids were small, I had decided never to have a hamster again. But I had to keep going back to look at them , and of course couldn't resist them. Spent hours in pets at home that day , googling information on them and thinking about it. Well of course I ended up getting them , and buying cage etc. They were Amber and Sage. Two sisters from the same litter. I called them the Schitz sisters and they were so tiny and cute running around together , even running in the wheel side by side ( even tho I had 2 of everything). Well they lasted a week together , then one became a bit dominant , and Sage ran away everytime Amber came near. So I bought another cage and separated them. My first two hammies in years , and I had never heard of robos before , only had Syrians and russian dwarf previously. When Amber passed , I got another robo and called her Holly. When Sage passed , I adopted Harry Houdini. Not long after that Bobby came up for adoption , and I couldn't resist , so adopted him , and most recently Pedro , who I had to have just because his name is so cool. I will post some pics soon. Enjoy yr hamsters !!!

The social aspect of Robos is fascinating. Apparently siblings who have never been apart are the most likely to remain friends, but unfortunately it often doesn't work. I've listened to the You Tube podcast "Rachel got hamsters" which I enjoy. Rachel's Robos couldn't live together and she gave them their own cages after trying to keep them together. I think they were just as happy being independent and the "under dog" robo certainly thrived on being free to move about as Robos seems to love to flit about their habitat. They are so cute and active, lovely little creatures ❤️ The name Pedro suits a Robo perfectly 😄 such little characters!
