Yes I was very happy that he didn’t freak 😅 but it had to be done. I was shocked that he got stuck in the entre of the smaller house, his pouches were very big though 😂 he has grown quite a bit which surprises me as he was 12 weeks old when I got him. Unless they got mixed up with the date.
Yes the new house is a niteangel one, my neighbour fix the roof so it doesn’t come off easily. I do hope he likes it and isn’t annoyed about the cheap bed. But surely they must not like sleeping in such a stinky place? He had almost no food stacked away just empty peanut shells and stalks of broccoli… so no wonder he has grown 😂

Good morning 🌺 he loves his new house! It’s so sweet this morning to watch him decorate, cheeks full of paper then food. He climbed on top; don’t need that silly ladder mum, duh 🙄
I am very happy to watch him full cheeked going in and out without a struggle. Have a great day 🌺

I will definitely try ☺️
I am a bit concerned about his burrow. He has been here for three weeks today and I have not been able to clean down there. I can see there is food and pee and it is starting to smell a wee but.
Should I clean while he is busy in his wheel? Should I try and get him out? He won’t like that… but it can’t be healthy staying down there all day 🥲 I don’t know what to do
Take him out while you clean down there,he won't like it if he sees you faffing

They can keep growing up to about 9 months old :-) Although usually fully grown by 6 months. Glad he loves his new house.

I;'ve had some hamsters who like to be there and know what's going on when you're cleaning out. and get upset if they come back after being out and something has changed, and others who get really upset if they see you doing things, and are better out of the cage while you're doing it.

He might have a hoard somewhere else that you haven't found yet :-) If he had full cheeks, he can't possibly be eating it all!

It is all about their personality, but most of mine have preferred not to be around..you will get to know him completely soon.

I guess he will have a hoard somewhere, but the full cheeks were mostly stuffed with toilet paper 😅 he also had one of his mini bowls down there, the little tee candle dishes which I use for water. It looked so cosy, if only I didn’t stink of hammy pee 😂
He really wasn’t at all bothered while I was cleaning, he sat in his wheel cleaning himself, stretching and munching a piece of apple. I suppose you have to go with their flow… if I had taken him out and put him in his transport box, I know he would have been more stressed. I am trying to take him out this weekend when I have plenty of time late at night. But then I will interact with him and not have to clean his house 🌺

He sounds fairly laid back :-) I had one who was very nervy and got very upset if something was even moved a cm out of place. I had to put his pet carrier in another room entirely so he couldn't hear me messing with his cage when I did a clean out, or he would get stressed in the pet carrier. But when spot cleaning generally he seemed to prefer keeping an eye on what was going around and would follow my hand around checking what I was doing.

Looking forward to hearing about his out of cage time. He'll soon get used to it and then want a routine of coming out most likely.

He is quite laid back, just random things terrify him, the blue tube for example, or his strawberry hideout (it’s so sweet) and the matching strawberry bowl for a sandbath 🤷🏼‍♀️ and if I wear my orange or white sweatshirt.
Some colours seem to trigger him. But my hand pottering around doesn’t frightens him at all. He goes to his sandbath for a pee whilst I am cleaning the food bowls. If I coax him out (🙏) I will make a video. He is very comical. He sometimes swings in his wheel when I sing 🎶 he tilts his head and listens… I give him a push and he loves swinging on the wheel. He sometimes takes a nap there too, one paw dangling out like a shot cowboy 🤠

He's still very young and they're easily scared. It's unusual for them not to object to a hand in the cage :-)

I didn’t realise that. It must be because he never had special treats and he knows I give him them. He has just woken up, cheeks stuffed with his veggie and hopped back to bed (without getting stuck). He seems happy with the new setup 🫶

He's very cute. He looks like he's growing to be quite a large hamster. When you do get him out next, having some flat digital scales in the bathtub or playpen area means you can weigh him. I just put a bit of cucumber in the middle and zero them and the hamster usually walks on and sits there nibbling the cucumber while you read the scales. They are fine on the floor but if it's on carpet they need to sit on a book or they don't read correctly - ie need a flat hard surface.

I will try, I don’t have a digital scale but it should still work. He’s definitely growing. I hope that is fluff on his head and not a scratch, but I don’t know where he could have got that from… he’s back in bed now with his veggies. He will be up later again, so I will check. He has still got a baby face though 😂

It looks like fluff or bedding. A scratch wouldn't show through his fur like that. Can recommend getting digital scales for weighing hamsters - I'll link the ones I have below. If it's just normal scales that mean putting him in a bowl or something I would hold off weighing him on his first time out or he might associate coming out with something stressful. Unless you mean they are manual scales that can just be walked on ..........
