I'd like to dedicate this picture to Hammy, who will be spending her first Christmas with me. Without her in my life, I would not be happy. But she is worth every penny I have spent on her this last week. Already, I have taken just over a 100 photos and videos of her. Happy Christmas Hammy.

I'm a bit early, but morning everyone. just done my hammys tunnel, nest and food change. Saved what wasn't soiled and mixed in some new. She was good as gold. Let me do it while she was in the cage. Occasionally, she came up for a sniff of my hand, but otherwise she didn't seem to be stressed. Well done Hammy

Is it normal for a syrian to go to sleep outside of any nests after a long bout of activity? Shes been up a good 8 hours, after running, burrowing and digging in her sand box. Shes only recently stopped and gone to sleep behind her big hut.

My syrian also does the same - she sleeps behind a sandbox with little bedding but that seems to be her spot. but she also doesn't seem to want to dig around much also, I think still exploring her new home.

My little hammy is crafty and clever, as i found out this morning when i took her dirty tunnel out, and put in a fresh one with what i had been able to save of her bedding and food stash. Once i had covered the end over to the entrance after she went back inside, she came out of the end where her stash is. I watch as she back shovelled some bedding over it to close it up, and then she went into her new hut. I thought she had finally decided to make her nest in there. A few minutes later, she came back out. As i was talking to her, she went back into the hut and i heard her scrabbling about in the tunnel. I finally realised she had tunnelled under the hut into the end of her plastic tunnel.
