My new rescue dog.. Snoop 🐢

It's extremely hot here over the past two days , so the three of us are taking it easy. We are doing the jobs but then stopping for a while afterwards. Snoop is being very good, I think even he's finding it too hot πŸ₯΅ we have to keep spraying water over the coop to try and make things more bearable for the chickens πŸ” l love summer but this is getting a bit silly now. It's the animals I feel for, it's getting life threatening. I've found the chickens quite like a cucumber πŸ₯’ cut in half it's really refreshing if straight from the fridge.. they love it. My phone is showing a shower next week, I hope it happens.πŸ₯°πŸ’žπŸ’•πŸ’“ Ness
It's a big worry πŸ₯΅ It's a relief that I am on holiday and can watch the pets. Yes, my piggies love cucumber πŸ₯’πŸ‘ I hope there will be rain soon πŸ™β™₯️

It seems to be a bit cooler today, hopefully snoop can have alot more outside time today πŸ₯° we felt awful limiting his time outside but it was just too hot. He didn't understand of cause, so now it will be nice to just open the door and let him let off some energy πŸ•πŸ₯°Ness

Aw I bet he's happy to be leaping around outside again :-) It's cooler and fresher here too, which is a relief! Still some sunshine though.

We actually had rain 🌧️ in the night... Yippee It wasn't alot so hasn't made much difference. The air seemed fresher which was nice πŸ™‚ snoop has enjoyed his early morning session on the bench, but now it's warming up again 24degrees so it looks like another warm day. It's so strange when you look around all the surrounding fields there's no animals anywhere because of the drought! Normally there would be cows, sheep and horses there's nothing. Can't put animals out when there's nothing to eat, how the farmers are going to cope having to use their winter food so early! I just don't know. It looks like snoop will have to have short visits outside again today, it looked so promising this morning πŸ•πŸ’—πŸ’•πŸ’ž Ness

Snoop is enjoying the cooler weather ☁️ he's been running around having lots of fun. He's not so impressed with having wet paws 🐾 but it's been great to have some quite heavy showers during the day yesterday and last night 🌧️ let's face it it's really needed, I'm sure he'll get used to soggy paws πŸΎπŸΎπŸ’•πŸ’• Ness

Quite autumnal here - a bit cold at night even. Something in between would be nice :-) Glad Snoop is having fun - it must be a bit of a surprise to him to have wet paws after all the heat and dryness this summer.

Snoop is having a lovely summer, he really likes the garden and would stay outside all day it was left to him. He really thinks we're being mean when we bring him indoors! At the moment he's sat by the gate waiting for the bin man that always brings him a biscuit ( he literally hasn't moved now for about half an hour) everyime he hears an engine his tail gives a gentle wag then stops as he realises it's not the bin man. I hope he comes soon for Snoops sake. Bless

Our bin man does the same! The first day Margot saw the bin lorry she got such a fright (she had only just started going out after her vaccinations) so the next time we were out and about at the same time as the bin lorry I sat with her quietly to watch it and she was actually fine. The bin man came and spoke to her and gave her a treat- I think he has a pocket full to make friends with all the dogs on his route... smart man!

Snoop is enjoying outside time now with this not so hot weather, it's still quite warm so he has to watched.we bring him in if we feel he needs a cool down time. I don't think he agrees with us but there's no harm in being careful πŸ™‚ I've been looking at him over lunch and I think it's time for another trim, so I think I'll get the grooming kit out and charge it upπŸ₯° he's very good about it, he lets me trim bits off here and there all the time so I'm not for seeing a problem ( famous last word's) we'll see πŸ€— scrumptious snoop πŸ₯°πŸ’•πŸ’žπŸ’—πŸ’“ Ness

Snoop had a lovely day yesterday, the weather was really nice so we took him up the lane to our neighbour, this is where his friend olive lives with the kitten called Mabel. We stayed for a while had a cup of tea and a chat. It was so lovely to watch olive and snoop playing and running around having fun, then when they got too hot they lay down side by side and had a well deserved nap πŸ₯°πŸ˜΄ they really get on so well, it's amazing. He's really sociable which is lovely πŸ₯° well done snoop 🐢πŸ₯°πŸ’•πŸ’ž Ness

Sounds like a nice social event for Snoop as well as for you :-) How did he get on with the kitten? !

Haha, some time's Mabel let's him get close for a while and then suddenly it's like a light bulb moment and it's OH NO go away your a dog? I'm a cat oh no no no . It's a friendly but I'll think about it situation πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ’žπŸΆ Ness

My limited experience is that dogs go up to cats all friendly and want to be friends and get an unpleasant surprise sometimes! Many years ago my family had a small dog and a cat at the same time and this happened. The first time the dog had his nose scratched - everything changed. Suddenly it was mad chaos chases daily - things knocked over all over the place. Like living in a Tom and Jerry cartoon - albeit cat and dog rather than cat and mouse! The dog always came off worst! They seemed to enjoy the play element to a degree but the cat ruled the roost!

You have to be careful with cats though. If they strike in earnest those claws can do a lot of damage to a dog's eye. Best to keep interaction as calm as possible and allow kitty somewhere to retreat if he or she wants peace and quiet 🐈🐾

Agree - in our past situation that was never a risk and there was plenty of space both indoors and out. They never got close enough to each other after the first time the dog stuck it's nose under something. It was a very long time ago - my memory is probably honed on one incident :-) I think there are some who live together quite happily as well - partly depending on the breed of dog as well perhaps.

That's true! Maybel the kitten sleeps with olive ( the dog) they do everything together πŸ₯° but olive is a very friendly girl. It does depend on the dog. We've had a dog and cat together in the past.. monty a blue roan cocker and Thomas a long haired ginger Tom they found their own ground and lived long lives together. Happy memories πŸ₯°πŸ’•πŸ’žπŸ’– Ness
