Hello all!

New addition Frodo is doing well, he came out for some cuddles and exploring yesterday. I let him settle for a few days and oh my lord, he never had anymore than an inch of bedding before and oh goodness I felt a little bad digging him up last night but I wanted to make sure he was doing alright and he loves his crazy amount of bedding so I couldn’t even find him right away. Though he had managed an escape! He’s not fond of sitting and stuffing his cheeks with me like Chubbs did but he’ll happily take treats once he’s back in his cage :)

Anyhow, I haven’t been on the forum often lately so I have to introduce two new girls! Tipsy and Mowgli! They’re around 5 months I’d say now and turning into lovely fat pigs! They’re actually absolute monsters! lol anything they can find to flip over, they’re gonna flip it! Their house, their potty. Agh! Hahaha they’re so cute though so I let them get away with murder. Ill
Post some pics of them here :) I know some folks here have Guinea pigs- can you show my what you have for cages for them? Mine spend most of their day in a big playpen and then have a cage for nighttime but they need an upgrade! Anything other than C and C grid style available? Thanks!

Great to hear your little ones are all safe and happy. Your piggies are gorgeous and very comfortable with being handled, lucky you! My two piggies are just starting to let me stroke their heads, but the slightest awkward movement and they're off. Guinea Loft make nice looking cages. I am interested in them. They use perspex panels. There is another playpen style enclosure on Amazon which uses plastic or perspex sides that are more secure than the Songmics ones which use clips. I'll have a look. I think Dusty's Mom uses one of these enclosures.

Here is the acrylic play pen:

It actually looks really nice. The only thing is if doesn't have a lid, whereas Guinea Loft can do a lid and a sort of walkway around the cage to help get in more steps. if you have grumpy guineas though (boys mainly) they might have a stand off in the walkway. I'm not sure how good piggies are at reversing 😀

The piggies sound such fun! I don't know much about guinea pig cages but I believe the C&C ones are very popular.

Oh those Guinea loft ones look perfect for what I need!!!! I was using the fleece instead of bedding but I found for some reason when using the fleece they use their litter box less and when I use the paper bedding- they use the litter box almost 100 percent of the time. Strange. I think I’ll probably order one of those Guinea loft ones and make a base out of chloroplast sheets for easy cleaning. And you can add pieces to make more space! Love them! Thank you!!!!

Glad it's useful. They make a biodegradable base which is water resistant and can be rolled up and put in the recycling. It sounds like a nice system.

Yes, they can be expanded to any size. Piggies usually stay in their pens and don't try to escape, the opposite of hamsters 🥷 although if they really want to, piggies can jump quite high, and young piggies can shin up the sides of the cage. They are fun! Quite hard work though being grazing animals, they poop like sheep, quite alot and need to be spot cleaned twice a day 🪣🧹

I got the Guinea loft cage! It’s great so far and has more room than their last. I think I’ll also buy some walkways or connect another pen for it. The hay feeder is currently waiting for me at my moms in the city as they were all too big to post out to my rural address so I’ll have to wait to go get that. I made my old water bottle work by attaching it to the C and C shelf that holds all their goodies and that’s working. They sell one for the cage but it looks small and they drink ALOT! Almost as much as they poop! Hahaha I put their house in last as I wanted to get some photos of them in the new pen and they’ll hide away for photo time :) the white one is Tipsy and the brown one is back to being Wombat as Mowgli didn’t seem to suit her and I like Wombat better! There’s a whole bunch of attachments that can be purchased for the cage like hides and lofts. I ordered the canvas bottom as well as they like to spray their bedding everywhere. Great fun! I think they really like it. I didn’t bother with the lid as the reviews all said that it broke at the hinges. Also just in case anyone is worried, the concrete floor is heated so they stay pretty warm!

That looks good :-) They are so cute :-)

Their new home is very smart! It must be nice not to need to sweep up bedding spills all the time. Does the canvas base smell of plastic? It's something Ok wouldn't mind getting, but sometimes they have a strong smell. Your bottle set up is very clever. The disposable cardboard type base must be useful. They are two sweet piggies ❤️

I haven’t gone to grab the canvas bottom yet as it was all too large to ship to my acreage so it’s in the city at my mom’s address and came separate from the cage but once I get it, I will let you know. The pigs are mostly potty trained so the cardboard kind of bottom and mat seem to be holding up well as they generally pee in their litter box as long as I put their hay in there. I really like the cage! They’re older now so when they do their little popcorns, I don’t think I’ll have to worry about the height of the pen either. They were squabbling last night something terrible as I thought I’d try bringing back their little fabric dome house that they loved as babies but it seems they get upset with each other now when the both of them are in there lol so in the middle of the night, I had to take it out so I could sleep without all the squealing hahahaha they do need a different house though. The hay hut they have now, they insist on knocking over onto its side and then it’s just kind of pointless. Do you have any recommendations for hides? Guinea loft sells some that attach to the pen so I wonder if that might be a good option. They couldn’t flip those but they also don’t look very comfy! They’re both girls so of course, get quite catty with each other somedays. The white one, Tipsy, is extremely outgoing whereas the little brown one, Wombat, is shy and waits for her sister to explore first and test for safety ;)

The Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue is on You Tube and their videos are great, if you aren't already watching them.

I will have to check them out! It looks like they don’t ship internationally so I wouldn’t be able to order but at least I have an idea! Maybe I’ll check local here and see if anyone builds something close to me!

Ah, I was hoping they might ship to Canada, that's a pity. I think there are some similar ones on the market. Hammocks attached to platforms are very popular. I've got these with noodle bath mats inside which are cosy in cold weather. The triangular hidd is easy to clean and hay and wood shavings just brush off.

I also put snuggle safe heated pods into them during the day when I am out, which keeps the piggies cosy.

I will see what I can find! I went to buy some things off Amazon but it looks like a lot of it is affected by these tariffs from the states as there are extra fees now so I will have to look elsewhere. The pet store is usually limited on small animal things but you never know, maybe I’ll find something!

The tariffs are such a nuisance. We have that with Brexit. Thank you for the info about the canvas floor when it's home. I hope you can find some goodies for your piggies, good luck 🏡
