Need some help with food choices please

Our discussions about food inspired me to update our food article on the home page, which was getting a bit out of date 
Until you mentioned Chewy.com I had no idea about them for hamster items in the US. But it seems they stock quite a few different hamster mixes, including the Bunny Nature ones for both Syrians and Dwarf hamsters which are very good. I know you've already got Robin's mix now and have been able to tailor it - so it's mainly for anyone else from the US looking for food now! If they want a simple commercial option Also it seems I can create affiliate links with Chewy.com as well, from one of our affiliate link companies, so some of the items on the list are affiliate links (they help fund the forum ). And some for Petco and Petsmart as well. And apparently I can make affiliate links for Walmart and Target as well. I'm aware Walmart sell Boxo bedding (bulk paper bedding) and have a link for that already.
So just wanted to thank you for helping open up the options for US members (and potentially it helping fund the forum as well!).
The article only really includes commercial mix options, but I've mentioned the "home made" mix options as well - and that sometimes people can have ingredients adjusted if they want. There are too many "home made" mixes to mention individually, but people do share different versions on here as well I've linked it below, even though I know you're sorted now! But it could be useful for future reference or if needing to buy Science selective at some point

I also would say, if he isn’t a hoarder, sprinkle a bit in a place to act as a stash and then just wait until the food bowl has more food taken from it!

I’m sorry to barge in on an older thread but this just made me realise what was going on with my ham! It was really informative reading through the whole thread though! So basically I “scattered” Teddy’s food over a surface a few days ago and I noticed that he didn’t touch it after the 2nd day but I just left it there. I then scattered in another area the next day and he vacuumed up all the new food. I was a little perplexed at the untouched older food and just swept it away after 3-4 days so this just made me realise what happened! I do feel bad now and hope he wasn’t too hungry (I really hope not because I scatter a fresh tablespoon every dayGood idea - although I always thinks it's best to put new food out every day - they will ignore any old food left in the bowl but if new is added, they will take it. Contrary little things

Don't worry There was food available and he wasn't going to starve but they do seem to be very permickety about the "old food" thing. Scattering doesn't work with my current syrian - I end up with a cage full of food! So I now put half on a dish and scatter just a little bit. He sits on the edge of the dish and forages from it and leaves loads - so I can see why the cage ended up full of food.
