I was looking to buy a new pet carrier and I've just seen these enclosures on Porton Aquapet, that I've never seen before. They look interesting. They seem to be ferplast tanks or cages with clear bases. They have the Domster and the maxi duna multy as usual but also these.

Ferplast Jerry 100 - it seems to be a 100cm glass tank with a barred roof top - but it is really quite expense - £319.99 It's 101.7cm x 51.9cm x 53.1cm tall. There is another Ferplast Jerry 100 on the site too that is less deep and less tall and costs less - but not deep enough.

This second one looks interesting - a barred cage with a clear base - it's really big on floor space. Ferplast Glassy 120 - 119.5cm x 76cm deep x 51cm high. The top barred part only has small doors but at least has two next to each other at the front. The base is plastic and is 24cm high - so plenty of space for deep bedding. Also not cheap at £279.95 but it is very large.

They are also selling the Ferplast Karat 100 - which has only been available on Amazon for a long time and at an extortionate price. But in addition to that they have this new version - the Ferplast Karat 120! I have always really liked these and been tempted with one - they have a deepish glass base and a barred top. But they only have small doors and the 120 doesn't seem to have changed that - two small doors on the front in different locations, and a few small doors on top. Even so it's a 120cm cage with a glass clear base. It's 118.5cm x 50.5cm deep x 60cm tall. Also not cheap at £299.99 - but it is big - and glass. It doesn't say how deep the glass base is but assume it's the same as on the 100cm one which is 25cm deep. The 100 had narrow 8mm ish bar spacing (maybe smaller) so assume this one does too.

They are interesting. Perhaps made with gerbils as an additional possible occupant. It's good that bedding depth is being given more priority these days 🏡

I think the Glassy looks the best option personally. The base is deep at 24cm. The two small front doors are next to each other, so with both open it's more like a large door - although I think the bars would need removing for cleaning and the bars must be huge if the cage is 76cm deep. It's absolutely massive - 120cm wide and 76cm deep.

What's odd is none of them are listed on the Ferplast site - or anywhere else as far as I can see. There is an 80cm Glassy on the Ferplast site and that is all. No Karats, no Jerry tank. I wonder if they only make some cages like the Karat for certain overseas markets - as I say it's only ever been available on Amazon before in the 100cm size.

The Glassy 120 is also on Amazon but showing as out of stock. It seems Ferplast make some of PAH cages because I think this Glassy is a bigger version of the small cage on PAH that has a deep plastic base. Also Porton have a Ferplast Milos 95cm cage that looks identical to the PAH Habitat 3 - except the Ferplast version has tube holes on each side, to connect to other things.

Actually the Karat cages are on the Ferplast website under Hamster cages, but not the 120cm one - only the 100, 80 and 60

Yes, I thought it looked familiar

Why can't Ferplast get it right? They make these nice big enclosures and cages with clear bases and can't get the doors right! I mean who wants to lift off 120cm top bars to spot clean a cage - with a large door you don't need to take the bars off.

That's a two person job for many people. Trying to get near hammy with treats for taming would be difficult too.

I did a video with all the details of all three cages/tank - and a mention for the forum in it :-)

The main comments on youtube are about the huge prices! And I agree. The Savic Aura Plexi 120 costs significantly less and is also a 120cm cage that holds deep bedding. I suspect Ferplast will always make small doors on cages unfortunately - as they always have. I did email them once but didn't get a reply!
