No more hamsters ... for now 😪

Since Toby and then Leo died I have been hamsterless. Unfortunately it looks like my hamster-keeping days are over for the foreseeable future.

I'm planning to leave home soon, eventually to hopefully get my own flat, but initially to lodge with a friend.

Also I'm going to be starting some quite intensive medical treatment which will limit my time and energy for much else. I'll have to be in hospital several days a week.

I still have the gerbils (getting old now) and they'll be moving with me but I can't really take on new animals when my long-term living situation is uncertain.

The past couple of weeks I have been sorting out the huge amount of pet stuff I had accumulated. Selling all of my extra cages - that was painful, especially the cages you can't buy anymore like the Living World Eco Habitat and the Savic Mickey. I've given away quite a lot of the cage accessories on Facebook to anyone who can use them, and taken others to the dump.

It's the end of an era

I'll still try to be around on the forum and post here and there.

Wishing you all the luck with these changes and difficult things . It is hard moving on good items we know aren't available any more as well. I am so sorry you'll be spending several days a week in hospital and we are here if you get fed up You deserve all things to be good and work out. x

Hey Daisy,

I know the feeling. I haven't had hamsters in a long time and had to get rid of all my prized hamster posessions due to changing living situations. There's always that feeling in the back of my mind, missing my hamster friends - someday, soon, in the future, hopefully . . .

I'm wishing you the best with your medical treatment and eventual flat. We're all here for you.

Thanks for sticking around the forum - we need people like you here! Hamsters may come and go, but hamster knowledge is forever.
