That is a very inspiring and impressive set up for a tank style cage.
Little Paû thinks so too. Great video.

I haven't had much time to do taming stuff with Paŭ recently due to dealing with Harley's surgery recovery but I have been talking to him while he is on his wheel the past few nights and have offered him a treat held in my fingers. Occasionally he will come for a nibble and sometimes he's not feeling brave enough.

I bought a cup to use as a hamster taxi and put it in his enclosure this morning for him to get used to. This evening I got him to climb into it twice while I was holding it and once he stepped out of it onto my hand and I got to briefly hold him while I put him back down in his enclosure.

He is a bit more skittish than he was. A couple of weeks of getting used to his new enclosure and not seeing me much have made him a little more wary, but I am sure he'll come around with patience :)

One thing I notice is once a hamster feels settled in their home they go back to their natural behaviour of being a prey animal. I do not think Paù is behaving like this due to not seeing you. I think he is just being a robo.🙂

I think of all hamsters, Robos take the longest to fully settle into a cage. It might need a bit longer for settling before thinking about taming.

Managed to sneak my phone camera in front of him without him seeing me

Aw, he is sooo cute!
Isn't he just!

He has been more wary of my fingers the past few days so last night I put some of his seed mix on a measuring spoon and held it still in his cage and he came and pouched all the food from it. This allows him to still associate me with good things while not having to get too close to my hands. I'm going to stick to doing that until he is consistently comfortable with it before trying to offer things directly from my fingers again (which he was pretty good with in his temporary bin but not doing so well with since he moved).

Taking seeds from a spoon is very positive and a nice way of offering treats without hands. :)

Awww he is so adorable & doesn’t he love that carrot!
Sounds like the best approach, taking things at his pace.

I think they can change their behaviour for a while after a move. It's like going back to the beginning. I'm experiencing this with Eddie.

Paū is so cute and focused with the carrot house and definitely winning.

Last night Paŭ finally discovered what the hole in the bedding barrier is for. However instead of just making a burrow entrance there, he embarked on a major engineering project. I had quite the mess to clean up this morning!

Popped his head out pretty soon after I finished cleaning and put his stuff back. A little nervous but very brave after I made quite a bit of noise in his enclosure.

He has been out again to check things out. I'm glad he has figured this out as it allows him to visit the most secluded parts of his enclosure without having to use the ramps. He likes his resin hide a lot so I suspect when warmer weather comes he'll hang out in there sometimes in the day.

Looks like Paū was wondering what happened to last night's creative mess in the first video.

Oh I nearly forgot. Captured this gem yesterday!

That last vid is hilarious! Nice one Pau 😍
He was very brave coming out to check what you’d been up to, I wonder if he’ll redo it all again tonight!

Yep, it's the same with brambles. The biggest ones are always at the very top. Just look at those pouches. I'm surprised there were any millet seeds left.

Its a sorghum spray but yeah, his pouches were full to the brim! He stripped that huge spray pretty darn quick!
