Pip the Robo

Yes it's his third time out and he's over a year old now so I think he's quite confident out of the cage - although like most hamsters likes to go "in" something and have some shelter regularly, but he seems fine running around as well. I didn't have a lot in there for him to do really.

I noticed his ears sticking up too!

I feel a bit remiss in not photographing Raffy more now - but he is out all the time so I get used to him being out!

No Maz, do not be hard on yourself. You love them both and we know that.

He does look very confident.
Aren't Robos unpredictable?
They are so full of surprises.

Well you do need to grab opportunities with a Robo! I decided not to do any hand taming this time - and he didn't seem to want to be out for that long. Last time it was afternoon and he was out for much longer. I do wonder if temperature makes a difference as it was nice and warm in the house early this morning, but colder in the evenings. On the other hand it's been nice and warm other mornings and haven't seen him.

So here he is in the playpen. The first clip is very short. I think the second one is more interesting as he's seeming curious and "hamstery"

Pip looked so happy in the play pen! My partner said he looks like he is in the game show The Crystal Maze. Lol. I do not know if you have seen that there is a bit at the end the people have to go in something and find tokens.

I vaguely remember it!

I think it's funny when he tries to climb up the outside of the plastic pod a few times and does a hurdle jump over the chew stick (I remember Orko did this too).

I think he enjoyed being out - he is always a bit - want to be out - yes I do, no I don't, yes I do. But he always seems a bit more confident each time and when I put my hand into the playpen he came over and sniffed it - instead of running away. I hope I get chance to get him out more often and do a bit more hand taming. It would be lovely to have him fully tame.

That would be wonderful. Isn't it funny how he decides to appear after three weeks?

Hard to imagine that you compared this chunky and fluffy Robo to a slug once.

Ha ha yes. He literally did look the size shape, and almost colour, of a slug when he arrived though. He has filled out well. I still think his colour seems very dark when you see from the top. When I look at pictures of Orko as well, Pip does still seem very small.

Robos do come in different sizes and colours. Scottie has been promoted to a medium sized one since Bernard's arrival.

Pip has been awol again since his last out of cage time. Not a peep out of him. I'll be setting the hamstercam up again tonight now, now that the Christmas tree is down and I've got the table back in its old place. Both he and Raffy got a new whimzee toothbrush tonight with sunflower seeds stuck in the bristles.

After he was poking his nose through the bars, from the top hammock last time, I realised that he couldn't do that before as the edge of the hammock is normally pushed through the bars so there's no gap and had clearly come out - so something for him to investigate. Or perhaps he was just trying to tell me - something's not right here! So I've sorted that no and there is no bar to see at the edge of the hammock again.

Aww Pip, come on, show yourself!
I guess he’s happy doing his own thing & maybe out of cage adventures are enough when fewer & farther between. I’m sure he’ll be happy to have everything back in it’s proper place.

It will be really interesting to see what he gets up to when you set the camera up.
