Pudding the hamster.

The mystery box looks amazing! I love the cute hamster stickers too. :)

Good tip! Thank you Wren.

Having said coconut is fine - it is fine for Syrians and robos. For a diabetic prone species like a hybrid dwarf, an occasional tiny bit in moderation would probably be ok. According to google it's low sugar but high fat and suitable for diabetic humans in moderation.

I'll wait to see what other views are on that one :)

Pudding is lovely and she looks so much healthier now well done with her diet she must feel so much fitted now too.

I've never seen a photo of a hamster over weight like that in Pudding's before photo! So glad she is with you now and much healthier.

The mystery box does look great!
Dried coconut is fine to give just a tiny piece once in a while for diabetes prone species, I wouldn’t give it too often though.

Yes I won't give the coconut too often.

Well that was unexpected, tonight is the first time I've seen Pudding since her move from the hamster heaven (my spare cage for emergency intake/ill /elderly hamsters) to the plaza. I knew she was ok because the food was going down. So she was up tonight as I was seeing to Sydney, he's always up after 10pm if he hears my voice. I went over to the cage and opened the door. Gave her a small piece of hamster popcorn (she only gets a small bit as a special treat if I see her up)she took it and ate it. I put food in her dish and opened the door to put it in and she came running towards the door so I put my hand flat and she jumped onto my hand then was walking from hand to hand for a little while before she started to get panicked and I put my hand near her cage and she jumped back in. 🤣she's funny.

Meanwhile Sydney was squeaking because he wasn't getting attention.🙈 They're a pair of characters.

I've never given any of my Hamsters coconut before. Excited to try.
Well pudding ate her piece (she eats everything apart from fresh vegetables). But Sydney didn't like his at all it was left in the dish. 🤣

That sounds so typically male Syrian to me! They get jealous if anyone else gets attention. I used to have the same thing with Raffy. I'd see him glaring at me if I was talking to our other hamster. And looking kind of panicky and like a jilted toy soldier :)

It's lovely pudding walked on your hands - she sounds like she's going to be quite a character.

She is going to be a handful I think. Lol. 🤣 There's no way she's 3 years old. (that's what her old owner told the rescue centre)

That was very brave of you to take on a 3 year old dwarf hamster, knowing she may not have long. But yes it does sound like the person at the rescue maybe doesn't understand hamster ages!

Yes it was her previous owner who said she was 3. It's a rescue for a different species of animal, my friend runs it and doesn't know much about hamsters she just knows a lot about this other species of animal. We did guess she wasn't 3 when we saw her, but have no idea of her actual age.
I'm one of the hamster loving volunteers. When the lady asked if we took hamsters too my friend asked me and I said yes I'd take her.

How lovely that Pudding jumped onto your hand like that, she really is settling in well, it sounds as though she’s been enjoying her new cage too.
I must have missed the bit about her supposedly being three, she looks quite young in the first photos you posted but I guess with most rescues it’s difficult to know how old they are.

Yes it's so hard to know their ages when they're rescues. I must not have said about puddings age before because I didn't actually believe she was 3. She's probably about a year and a half or something. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lovely update on Pudding. Made laugh hearing that Sydney is the jealous type 🐹💕🤣

Well last night Pudding was awake , I said ”hi Pudding” and she immediately ran and dived down the back of one of her platforms and disappeared down a burrow. 🤣🤣this hamster cracks me up. 🤣🤣😭 It was absolutely hilarious to see.
