Robins tumour update

A quick question,what quantity of emerald critical care do I need to mix for Robin?.The vet advised that if she lost any weight it is a good choice.I weighed her this morning and she has lost seven grams,somi want to try and maintain that weight. I bought some before ,but never used it as my hammy passed .

I am very sorry to hear Robin is struggling with weight loss. I think it is more about consistency and whether she prefers more runny porridge like CC. I haven't used it yet but I know that with guinea pigs varying the consistency can help to make it more palatable. I hope it works well for you

Thanks ,I will give her just a blob on a tea spoon and may be a little drop of something more palatable . She is still a good weight at 223 grams ,but since she had her initial.tumour removed she has lost around 30 grams. She lost 21 with the tumour and now,a month later another. 8 grams because of the new tumour. She is,however ,still enjoying her food and cuddles and just basically hamstering bless her

I'm afraid I don't know that one as I have never used it. I tend to use shelled hemp seeds for dietary supplement. They are high calorie and contain most vitamins and minerals and hamsters like licking them up.

I have heard that some animals enjoy it greatly. Is it one that is specifically for hamsters? I think the one for guinea pigs and rabbits is different

It's the critical.care omnivore sachet that you can buy on Amazon ,it's highly recommended for hammies

That's just right. Their guinea pig meals are brilliant, so I think it should be well received I think it is designed to be possible to administer using a small syringe if necessary, but I found even when Socks was very weak, he could still nibble enough and I think feeding with a teaspoon should work really well. It has a good formulation of nutrients

A.little.update guys,Robin got up this morning for fusses and sofa time. She had some pain relief ,critical care( which she loves) apple and cucumber,before having more cuddles and a little playpen time. She is still getting in with things, eating well and as yet has not lost more weight. However ,her foot tumour is larger and looks a lot like a large blister . She doesn't seem bothered by it,and hasn't touched it. The vet says it will eventually rupture and he should be able to manage the wound. I don't know how long it would be before this,but he said she should live months ,comfortably,with the right pain relief etc. please keep your fingers crossed that Robin continues to be able to hamster for a few more months. She is such a happy little soul .

I am so glad to here that Robin is happy and enjoying herself. Of course all fingers and hammy paws are crossed for little Robin to have many more months of cuddles and joy it sounds very positive and it’s aäways a good sign when they have appetit
and she enjoys the best care and love too.

Glucose, Hydrolysed Soya Protein Concentrate, Corn Oil, Rape Seed Oil, Cellulose, Wheat Germ, Dicalcium Phosphate, Ground Limestone, Potassium Chloride

So the glucose/sugar will provide energy, it has protein and some minerals. I can see it could be very good in an emergency if sugar water is needed (eg coming out of torpor perhaps).

It doesn't really give ingredients ;but nutritional values.I mix about half a tea spoon into paste and she eats it straight away. Vet said it's good to maintain her weight and to help her eat when or if she becomes infirm and isn't eating. He advised it for my previous hammy as she wasn't eating much ,but then she sadly died in her sleep.

Yes ,I saw that as I put the photo up lol She was up again this morning, just gone back. Lapped her critical care blob up like a good little girl and stuffed her face with the boiled eggs I was eating for breakfast . After attacking her egg boxes in the playpen for a bit ,she asked to go back to bed.
