Rodipet temporarily closed down

Shauna's pet shop still links some Rodipet items for sale and they are all reduced. Is there anyone here from Ireland? I can't put anything in the basket and go part way through the shipping process to see if it works, because I'm not in Ireland.

Bad news, everyone.
with my very limited German, and slightly better google fu, I found information that Rodenti GmbH & Co. KG (company behind Rodipet) seems to have financial problems.
I was able to find the same information on insolvenzbekanntmachungen.de
I know nothing about German law, so I have no idea if that means liquidation, restructuring, or something else.

Thank you for finding that. It did seem like it might be something like that sadly. I clicked on the link you posted, and google or my browser (not sure which) offered to translate it to English, so I managed to read all of it. From this part, it seems like there might still be some hope? Possible restructuring? I'm assuming "aisals" is just a bad translation of "sales"?
"From now on, aisals may be allowed by Rodenti GmbH & Co. KG will only be carried out with the consent of the insolvency administrator. The aim of this measure is to secure the company's assets and to lay the foundations for a possible restructuring or orderly processing."

That's a pity. I thought the hamster scene in Germany would have been a place where good quality products would have sold well.

I think it was simply a case of insolvency Socks Mum - many business folded due to the pandemic affecting them financially, and never recovered. I'm still hoping they will come back. They were very reliable and always shipped to the Uk (even when no one else in Germany would after Brexit!). I am sure they did have plenty of sales, however, Niteangel online perhaps became a fairly big competitor with some near identical products - but certainly the rodipet houses were of significantly better quality and materials. Also since the pandemic, so many small hamster cottage industries set up with so many taking to socilal media during the pandemic.
So I suppose partly blame social media, competition, pandemic, hamster cottage industries (platforms, cages, food, forage, snacks, houses etc).
So many smaller country pubs no longer in existence as well (noticeable in my area).
Anyway let's hope they are indeed being able to restructure (I think it's part of an insolvency process) but the website disappearing again isn't a great omen.
They were leaders in hamster care products for many years and had an ethical stance as well, which I liked.

Yes, agreed. I hope they come back. They were involved in research and conservation at one stage in Syria. Hopefully such research will be possible by someone in the near future
