Show us your cages 2023 onwards

Hello :-) Is Ron a Syrian or a dwarf hamster? If he's a Syrian, then the wheel is too small. If he's a dwarf hamster, it's slightly on the small side but would do for a while :-) He has a lovely cage :-) He might like it if you could add some more bedding at one end - I know it's tricky as it could fall out of the bars, but some people put grass mats or cardboard inside the bars at one end to prevent that :-)

Congratulations on getting your hammy, Ron ❤ Hamsters aren't great climbers, being happiest burrowing and running through vegetation, having lost their tails and climbing claws due to these preferences. They fall quite heavily so putting out a soft landing can be good. They usually look for a really dark place to make a nest as far from the entrance as possible. Having deep bedding to burrow into makes them feel at ease. The multi chamber houses made by Happy Henry's Homes are great as they have a removable roof so you can peek in without uprooting the whole house. You can also make a nice dark house by putting a floorless shoebox into the cage and using the lid as a roof. A bendy bridge over the door will keep the inside nice and dark 🏡🐾😴. Your set up is great with lots of enrichment and places for Ron to use as cover as he moves about which should encourage him to explore ❤

The boot looks interesting :-) This thread is more just to show the cage photos :-) But feel free to start another thread asking for tips if you like :-)

Sorry, cage below

Here is Socks' Omlet cage. The wheel is excellent and has stood up to him so far. It spins nicely and is easy to get on and off. He is a wheel trasher. He still runs on his Savic Rolly wheel in the play pen. I bought the cage to get a good wheel as our others broke quickly and would slide around and rest against things, and then not turn 🙁
I think for a Syrian, the Savic Plazas with Viking Lazer perspex panels are still the best, but Socks is too old to bar bite and bar climb anymore and he seems quite comfortable in the new version Omlet cage.I think a dwarf hammy would be OK in this cage.
Another recommendation for the Omlet cage is how helpful the aftercare service is. If you need parts, even small ones like nuts and screws, you can speak to a team member in person and they will help you 👍❤️

Just bumping this so we can see all your lovely setups :-)

Hello everyone! I recently cleaned and updated Dango's cage. I mostly kept it the same with just a few improvements. Could you let me know what you think? I'd love to hear any advice or ideas you have!

That is so cool! we only have space for a 490 sq foot cage so we can't make it look nearly as cool as that. Have any tips for cages on the smaller side to still make them look cool?

Hi. I think you might have a typo there :-) 490 square foot would be an enormous 24 foot x 20 foot room!

Ooh I can see him in that second photo :-) It looks great for him - so enriched and so much to do :-)

I hope so. We originally landscaped it all so neatly but he's moving the bedding all over the place 😂. He's a messy boy! But I presume that's because he is interested and making it to his own specs. I'm trying to work out if he's burrowing but I don't think so.

This is what Topaç's cage looks like currently after the cleanout. I want to add sprays and platforms, but they are still in the freezer. Also, I removed his food bowl and switched to scatter feeding all his mix, since I read that it's enriching for them.

That looks nice for him :-). Has he moved into the cardboard multiroom house? It’ll be a bit strange for him but he’ll adjust to the new things in the next few days. Are the wheel and house in the same position as before? That can help. The new corner house looks really cute 😊

He usually stays in his burrows rather than hides. I can sometimes see the entrance of the tunnels just beside one of the hides. I put the wheel and the house in different places, as I worried Topaç could try to burrow under the platic container over the glass container, so put the wheel on top of only the glass container where the bedding is shallow.
