Little Pip (Pipkin) had passed away in his nest. He had been with me for over two years, adopted from Happy Hamsters at an unknown age but probably about three months.
Recently he came to the front of the cage and spent ages nose to nose with me and I think this was him saying goodbye. Things like that have happened before. They seem to know in advance.
Pip will be buried with his nest and his little chair with his name on it and one of his small teaspoons.
He kept going right up to the end and was in his wheel for a short time last night.
Sleep well little Pip and thank you for being a good little hamster and being there through some difficult times a couple of years ago.
