The scariest thing your hamster has ever done

Winnie was actually involved in a second escape after the first. She chewed through the ceiling of her cage (after id thoroughly reinforced the walls and floor!)

On her second rampage she climbed up a chest of drawers and into my snail grave yard. I had aquarium snails before hamsters. I cannot believe she ransacked the graves of my previous pets 😂

& I cannot believe she broke out of her cage twice. It was meant to be a big upgrade from an older cage. (Which was fine at the time I bought it, but times have of course changed).

Goodness - is that where you found her? In the snail graveyard? She maybe saw it as something to dig in 😊. Winnie the grave ransacker 😂. I’m so sorry also as it is a lovely little memorial. Hopefully easily rectified. It sounds like a lot of work reinforcing her cage but it seems you got there!

Aww it's alright, I took it in good humour. I admire her adventurous spirit.. and the memorial has since been restored to its former glory. :)

It certainly was, I did think it was a bit flimsy when putting it together, but it was quite expensive, so I thought surely she couldn't break through... :o

I later realised that the cage was designed and built by a company that specialise in garden furniture/outdoorsy stuff. So it's been a bit of a lesson in reading Amazon descriptions properly and not assuming things will be fine!

My previous cage was as a smaller cage from Omlett which was beautifully designed, but too small for today's standards.

I think we've all been there with cage issues! I had one with a large door on top that had a huge gap and used to have to put a peg on it :ROFLMAO:.
