I remember his gotcha day well two years ago. He squawked at me like an angry chicken every time I tried to talk to him. Once in his cage he was fine.

Tino still doing well on his Metacam He's back to normal activity and using his wheel at night again. Will try and get some photos or a video soon

Of course now he doesn't need an adjusted cage particularly so I've held off! One end was already partially adjusted but he climbs on his house roof and onto his corner shelf every night for a wash!

Update on Tino. He's doing fine on metacam. He's almost 2 years and 4 months old now, still active and using his wheel again and enjoying his soft food. He is feeling bonier and has lost some weight, but that is not unusual for a hamster this age. He still tried to dig his way out of the playpen after being out tonight! Here he is in the playpen and having his baby food and metacam. Noticed his eyes are a bit sticky when I saw the video so they will need bathing. The diary on the floor in the playpen was because the weighing scales had been standing on it!

Wow what a beautiful hamster, it's so lovely to see him on you lap eating... Gorgeous. It's inspiring to see an older hamster it shows it can be done. You hear so many people say oh they don't live long I can't be bothered. Your video shows that it is worth getting a hamster because with the right care and love they can have a long life. Tino says thank you I know at two years 4 months, his time is limited but he seems to be quite enjoying hamstering for now. The correct pain relief made such a huge difference to him. Three months ago I thought he was dying.

There's a list on here somewhere of the ones that don't contain anything bad for hamsters. At the moment it is Hipp Organic sweet squash and chicken, apple and pear (that is the only fruit one I've found that doesn't contain lemon juice) and a carrot and peas one. I do have a blueberry porridge one as well but don't use that too often as it has milk in. The Apple and Pear one is very nice! I eat the rest of the pot myself

With the jars, they only last two days, so after two daysworth the rest gets wasted (unless I eat it!). These particular ones say do not freeze.

It's not a good idea to give soft food or baby food unless they are old and have teeth problems - they need the hard food to keep their teeth trim.

I was never keen on those for some reason but there were some different rusks I liked - more like cold toast.
