UK National Emergency Alert test - Sunday 7th September 2025

Don't forget - the National Emergency Alert test will be happening this month. The UK government is testing the system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Your mobile phone or tablet will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound, even if it’s set on silent. The alert message will confirm this is a test and that you do not need to take any further action.

Apparently, a lot of people never got the alert during the last test due to an issue with some network providers, so they are testing again.

Ohh, thank you for the notice, this could have frightened the life out of me & Winnie otherwise. I'm glad they're testing it again.

I have a work and personal phone, I'm sure one of them didn't work last time, so it'll be interesting to see what happens this time.

Winnie is too young for a phone of course. I wonder what she would Google given the chance..

- when will my human bring me peanuts again?
- why am I such a cutie pie?

I can confirm the alert did work here.

Also I confirm I forgot all about it despite learning about it 3 or 4 times last week.

It was very confusing at first!

Husband and I had our alert at the exact same moment. Worked well!
Not too loud to wake hamsters but good to know what it sounds like for real.

I also forgot again and was holding my phone when it went off - had to put it down as the vibration was horrible . It wasnt that impressive - two white boxes with minimal info and the bottom box was cut off! So I couldn’t read everything. It could have had a more user friendly message!

Apparently it doesn’t work if your phone is switched off - Assume that’s the same if you have a dead battery.

Mine was at 1 minute past 3pm

I actually did remember!!! My work phone went off first, then my personal phone. A total non event really given the amount of forewarning lol

Yes, I checked the time and said "you are one minute late" I forgot but I think next time I might remember as the noise is quite unpleasant. If there is a recording on the internet, I'll give it a listen
