Is anyone watching Winterwatch this week on BBC2? They have been talking about, and trying to replicate an experiment in the Netherlands to see if wild mammals would use an exercise wheel in the same way that hamsters do. So, the Winterwatch crew have set up a hamster wheel, and also a large wheel for larger mammals. They have been showing some of the animals to get in the wheel so far…my favourite had to be the slug 🐌🤣

I had a look on iplayer and saw the slug :ROFLMAO: They keep saying they haven't had many creatures finding and using the wheel yet, but maybe that's because it's a Uk winter! The large wheel doesn't have a back to it hence the animals climb through it! I watched some of tonight's episode and it's a really interesting program - you can actually watching their cameras live between 10am and 10pm - had a quick look - there's one pointing at a badger set this evening. A bit like a hamstercam I guess.

I did find the presenters slightly annoying though - a lot of talking and the level seemed to be almost aimed at a child's program. Just me grumbling though ha ha.

I enjoy Winterwatch. It does have a big following of school children who are budding natural history scientists. I quite enjoy the humour and banter. Winterwatch is easier as there are no baby birds being gobbled up.

Oh good point! Yes adult nature programmes on later, can be a bit grim. I didn't realise it was intended for schoolchildren with it being 7.30pm ish - maybe the older ones :-)

I seem to remember that both Michaela Strachan and Chris Packham started out as presenters of children’s TV aeons ago! I personally find it quite entertaining and amusing 😊

Or spent too much time watching older kids tv programs over the years :ROFLMAO: Quite glad that era is behind us. Although Horrible Histories was quite fun.
