Just look at him chomping away on the nuts. Zak must have kept his teeth into old age. What an amazing boy.

He definitely still has his teeth! I’ve been concerned with him not eating hard foods that they would over grow but they haven’t, maybe they just stop growing, I really don’t know what happens with teeth by this age. They do feel a bit blunt when he has a nibble on my finger or my nose though, no sharp needles there!

He really is into those seeds & nuts now, I went to check on him earlier this afternoon & he was in his big bowl so I offered him a crock & he had about half the filling then went back to go round in cirlcles in his bowl looking for more seeds & nuts, there were a few bits left but he’s peed in the bowl as usual so they were stuck fast!
It was about an hour earlier than I normally get his tea (I find with all my hams as they get old they want food earler so it’s afternoon tea now) So he went back in his coconut & I went to get his food as quick as I could, takes me a while to smash everything to just the right consistency, when I went back he was out of the coconut like a shot & got stuck straight in.
He only seems to be able to eat very small pieces even with soft things which is a bit odd really, he’d hardly touched his tofu for ages so yesterday I tried again & cut it into tiny pieces & he ate the lot.
He seems to have found a whole new lease of life from somewhere!

I’m getting quite fascinated by Zak’s teeth!
He’s really been eating well & getting through most of the crushed up seeds & nuts & his teeth are getting sharper again.
He had a little nibble on my fingers this morning after I’d been breaking up crocks for him so they were probably quite tasty & I could feel little sharp points again.
I know it won’t go on indefinitely but he does almost seem to be aging backwards at the moment!

- although maybe partly genetics as well. It’s great he has good teeth!

Zak’s been on the move with his nest again & for the last week has been sleeping in an open nest right by the door, I had to move his baby food after he kept burying it under a mountain of tissue!
I find it quite humbling to think he trusts me enough to sleep in the open there.
We had quite a stressful day yesterday with workmen banging about in the loft putting extra insulation in then drilling a big hole in the wall for a fan all the while the idiot next door making a hell of a racket right outside the window by Zak’s cage so he kept getting woken up, he was very calm about it though & probably coped better than I did. He was busy last night though & moved another mountain of tissue to cover himself up a bit.
Here he is just settling back down to sleep

Oh that is so precious to see he feels comfortable enough to sleep in the open. He really trusts you Elusive. How beautiful. How annoying having all that racket. I hope you have recovered from that.

Poor you having to put up with all that racket. At least Zak was able to cover his ears with lots of bedding to block the noise out.
