When Bernard was on my hand last night eating his seeds i thought that he's grown into quite a chunky Robo. Short and round with a small face.

He likes red pepper and looked so cute eating his but i didn't have the phone on me for a photo.

Robos vary so much in size and shape. I also saw Finley twice which was a nice surprise.

Lovely Robo evening then! I can just picture Bernard enjoying his pepper 😍

It does sound like a nice Robo evening :-) Their moments can be infrequent but special!

Bernard's out tonight. He goes right to the edge to get the big saucer going.

He's really going there!

So lovely to see little Bernard wanted to come out and have some fun. :)

When Bernard wanted to go home he walked into the transport ball to let me know.

Sometimes i get fruit flies in the kitchen and saw one in Bernard's cage the other day. I did some spot cleaning but couldn't find any more.
Tonight i saw an insect that looked like a fruit fly in the same place again, on top of his house. I suspect he hid some fresh veg or fruit somewhere.
I looked into his house but couldn't see anything in there aside from an annoyed Bernard.
Bernard wasn't happy with me and threw another of his tantrums.
I've had fruit flies in cages before and they are harmless and easy to get rid off but i need to investgate in daylight.
So, tomorrow i need to take Bernard out and check his nails and then remove the house to check the whole area.

Bernard's little tantrum.

That is the first time I have seen Bernard not look happy. That really was a great tantrum. I hope he forgives you soon. I did not realise some robos hide fresh food.

I don't know yet if he hid fresh food but need to check because of the insect i saw on his house roof which looked like a fruit fly.

Aw he still looks cute. What was the tantrum about? Hmm - sometimes it's just one tiny bit of fruit or veg that's been put somewhere. I once found a half eaten blueberry in our first Robo's cage - he'd put it inside a hidey place. It had maggots on it! Luckily once it was removed, no more maggots appeared to have roamed from it.

I opened his house roof to check for fruit flies but he was in it and woke up so he threw a tantrum. It wasn't the first one either.
It's the same with fruit flies. Remove the source and they're gone.

I'm sorry but this is just SO CUTE!! Hehehe. I'm sure he will settle down. So when hamsters wave their paws like that, does that mean they are upset? I saw an angry hamster doing that on a video before. 🤔 (The owner was being mean to them though, and blowing in their face...😖)

Mine are mad at me or something when they do that. The smaller hamsters seem to have more of a temper than the bigger ones. Bernard is the smallest of them all.

Aww poor Bernard was not happy about that! Hope he got over his tantrum soon.

I have the same problem with fungus gnats sometimes, a bit of a pain but quite harmless & it does seem to be the odd one that gets into the cage, they don’t infest it or anything.

I've never heard of fungus gnats and just looked them up. They look very much like the one i saw so could well have been one of those.

I'm pretty sure now that it was a fungus gnat that came from a houseplant i threw out not that long ago.

I'm not going to upset Bernard by checking his cage and will wait and see if i can catch a gnat should there be another.
The living conditions are wrong for gnats in a hamster cage so they are not likely to multiply.

Thank you for that information elusive.
