At last the temperature is on the way down so hope you feel cooler soon Clive

Clive's skin has started to deteriorate. It's bumpy which i noticed a few days ago, a little dry with the odd scab. It's a recent thing as i stroke him almost daily.

I think the more advanced symptoms of Cushings are starting to show their ugly faces which is upsetting but its not about me.

Clive isn't showing any signs of discomfort yet but i'm keeping a very close eye on him.
Clive's always been the most vulnerable and sensitive of all our hamsters.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re starting to see signs of the disease progressing, that’s not an easy thing but I’m glad to hear Clive is still comfortable, I hope he stays that way for some time yet & I know he\ll be getting the best care with you.

I've lowered his shelves slightly when i cleaned his cage and yesterday i gave him Lilly's ramp. I changed his access bridge before but he hated it so i put the old, fairly steep one back in. He likes Lilly's ramp which he probably sees as a trophy because he doesn't like Lilly and they like to steal from each other given half a chance. I wiped it but scents linger. Lilly has a new ramp that came with the shelf of her new cage.

Sorry to hear mini bear Clive isn't doing so good. I wish I could give him a hug 🤗💕

Clive - ha! Lilly I've got your ramp.

Lilly - you can have it. I've got a nice new one.

Made another little adjustement and moved his coconut slightly so i could move one of his bottles downstairs right next to his house. He's been drinking a fair amount for quite a while.

Clive stuck his nose out and gave me a questioning look but then came out sniffing and had a long drink. I'm in his good books at the moment.

Glad you're in Clive's good books.

Bit like a hamster mobility aids shop here with Clive's changing needs.

He keeps flattening the substrate which doesn't help or shovels it inside his house.

He slipped off the little double access bridge sometimes. I fixed that by giving the surface one coat of plastikote, sprinkled wood chips on it, let it dry, gave it a shake and now it has a grip. His front paws don't slip off it now.

That's a really good idea and I'm sure mini bear Clive will appreciate it.

Great idea with the wood chips in the paint to make things easier for Clive.

That is a clever idea. How old is Clive now?

He's only 20/21 months old but he was just under a year when his health issues first started.

Sorry to hear Clive’s skin is not looking so good, hope he’s keeping well and seems a bit brighter now the temperature has dropped although it still seems quite humid to me. Clever idea with the ramp 👍

Clive is still fine in himself and a lot calmer, probably tiring quicker as well.
I carried him around the house last night while talking to my OH and thought that i couldn't have done that a few months ago.

It's that time again when i spend as much time as possible with a hamster who has started to age or taken ill.

It's like i'm trying to show Clive that no matter what he'll look like, bald or scabby, it won't matter, he'll be loved the same.

It’s good that he still seems fine in himself & seems calm & content, I’m sure he knows how much he’s loved & always will be.
