Eddie is a bit of a lazy hamster who likes to hang out in his wheel.
OH told me that last night Eddie sat in his wheel looking at him so OH dropped a few seeds in.
Eddie stretched himself out of his wheel to get to the seeds but his back paws stayed in his wheel.

Eddie was out last night for a cuddle which was lovely but i get One chance and that's it. If i miss it, tough.
He sits on his shelf but if i don't open his door immediately, he's off to his wheel. Once in his wheel he won't come out and can't be bribed with treats. He's always been like that.
He sat on his shelf tonight expecting me to drop everything, which would have been Toby, to get him out. I put Toby back but Eddie had already gone. He doesn't do waiting.
He came out of his coconut because he was annoyed that i had turned the light on for a photo and went back in his wheel.

He sounds half robo ha ha!

He’s being a bit of a diva!
I remember having times like this when I had multiple hams & someone always had to be awkward!

I also thought Eddie sounded like Orko there. If you do not do things right away they are off. Sometimes I ask my partner to take a picture of Orko when he is out and he says he will just finish something. As if a robo would wait that long.

At least he doesn’t seem nervous.

Eddie was keen to come out tonight. Soon as i opened his door he climbed onto my hand and run up my arm. It was lovely to spend some time with him and he had a good run around in the playground.

Aw how lovely Eddie wanted to be with you :) Raffy only climbs on my foot - not my hand :-) Pip won't come near me. Clearly I am missing out not having a Russian dwarf.

Eddie decided that he needed a nibble of his whimzee.
He doesn't take them to his nest like most of the others do and nibbles them on this shelf.

I've just ordered Bayer diastix because i want to test Eddie for diabetes.

He drinks more than the other dwarfs but not excessively. I'll monitor his water consumption by weighing his bottle at the same time each day for a while.

He pees in the corner toilet inside his house which has a distinctive sweet and musty smell that's different from normal dwarf wee smell.
That could be his scent gland though which isn't infected but looks like it could have a build up. I am trying to soften it with warm, damp cotton pads.

Obviously, i very much hope that he's fine but if he turns out to be diabetic i know what to watch out for because i've had a diabetic dwarf before.

It is good you know what to look out for. You have experience with diabetes so he is in good hands with you if he does have it.

I hope it doesn’t turn out to be diabetes, fingers crossed anyway, if it is hopefully he can still live happily with your care.
Blocked scent glands can smell a bit & be a bit stubborn to clear so I hope that clears up ok & it could be that causing the smell.

I've just found Percy's (diabetic dwarf) water intake record which will give me a good indication.

Eddie chomping on his whimzee this morning. His water intake is within the normal range.
