That looks like the perfect little hideaway to sit & chomp (& make as much mess as possible with the sand too!)
His little face in the second photo, so cute, he looks quite tiny there.

Eddie has settled in so well and quickly too. He looks very happy.

It's always so interesting getting to know a new hamster.
When Eddie is not ready or doesn't want to come out, he can't be tempted out is something i learnt last night.
He communicates quite well. Last night he was climbing around on me, sat on my shoulder and sniffed my neck again until he climbed down my front. I had him on my hand and he started to nibble me so i thought 'oi! what's this all about'. He obviously didn't want to be on my hand because it was not a gentle exploring type of nibble, it was one to get a message across so i put him down. Turned out that he had wanted down to play in the playground. After a while he had enough and sat washing between door and wall. Eddie came forward when i called him and was happy for me to scoop him up in my hands to carry him home.

Lilly is like that. When i scoop her up without her agreement, she nibbles me in protest to get put down again.

Come to think of it. They all communicate with their teeth.

What a wonderful sign Eddie feels comfortable enough to express himself like that. I love hearing about him and getting to know his personality.

Lovely to hear more as Eddie’s character emerges, he really is very good at communicating bless him.
Those teeth do come in handy when we’re a bit slow to get the message!

Same here. I'm really looking forward to find out what this little man is all about.

He is on the small side but may grow yet. He's about the same length as Lilly but not the same body shape and he feels different on my hand.
Lilly is an egg and Eddie is a pancake.

Eddie looks small in his pictures but I know pictures can not always be accurate. It would be interesting to weigh him in a few months to see if he has gained any weight.

Oh dear. Eddie got spooked which was my fault. His wheel had a lot of seed shells in it so i tried to brush them out while he was doing something else but the brush spooked him. He ran to that bendy bridge and froze. He's moving again but he's still on that shelf.

I must remember that not all dwarfs are like Lilly and Scottie who would attack a brush to chase it away. I feel really bad now for spooking poor Eddie.

Best to turn the light off and let him get over it.

Aw poor Eddie. I don't think any of my hamsters would like a brush in the cage either - a hand is about the limit! Raffy got spooked by a biscuit tin on the floor yesterday! I'll post about it on his thread.

Aww poor Eddie (& poor you, it’s not a nice feeling when you accidentally spook them) but I’m sure he’ll soon get over it.
They are very individual when it comes to doing things in the cage aren’t they.

Eddie got over his fright. His wheel was full of seedshells again. He was meerkating on a shelf with full pouches this morning when i came in with Lilly.

I wonder if the shells under his paws make running uncomfortable and haven't figured out a way of removing them yet.
I could vacuum them out during the day but the noise may spook him.

I wipe out shells using a tissue. It seems to work. Eddie looks so cute I want to hug him.😍

I leave the shells in, I do a weekly clean of the wheel anyway as most of mine pee in them so much but have never seen any sign of the shells or other stuff they put in there bothering them, I think a lot tend to fly out as they run anyway.

My OH just told me that he sat in the hamster room early morning watching Eddie on his wheel.

I've moved Eddie out of the corner next to Clive into Jack's spot. He is now right in front of me when i sit on the futon.

I'm glad Eddie is in a different type cage or i would be expecting Jack's cute little face looking at me.
