Hamster not eating much

Yes that one is fine 😊 Also the Chipsi Carefresh one is fine too. There has been the odd occasion where a hamster has had an allergic reaction to csrefresh as it’s not just paper, it’s cellulose - but it is very rare and it’s probably fine. Alternatively, do you have a shredder? Some people have made their own bedding by shredding kitchen paper - but rolls of kitchen paper aren’t cheap either.

Although it might be expensive buying the bedding initially, if you have enough in the cage you can mainly just spot clean the ore and the bedding lasts a very long time then 😊

Toilet paper is better than kitchen paper as it's less dense but that would take a heck of a lot of tearing up! And probably wouldn't go through a shredder. The only thing with rolls of kitchen paper also is, I find them really expensive these days! You would probably need quite a lot of rolls to make enough bedding to fill a cage.

Does that Carefresh you linked say 35,000 rupees?

This link says 1,260 rupees which converts to about £11.59, which is not a bad price :) In the Uk I could maybe only get 5 large kitchen rolls for that :ROFLMAO:

Sorry, forgot the link - here it is. That's only 10 litres though. The larger amounts do seem expensive. It seems cheaper to buy more 10 litre packs maybe?

Kaytee Clean and Cozy does work out expensive. This seems to convert to about £48. It is the largest pack but you'd probably need two of those to fill a cage.

You're right it works out very expensive. It might be cheaper to shred kitchen rolls. If you do get any carefresh or Kaytee though, make sure it's not the scented one or "extra odour control" one - as they contain things that are bad for hamsters! Just the standard one is ok.

oh i thought extra odour control would be nice but yeah it makes sense that it’s gonna be harmful for hamsters as they might have some chemicals for them to last longer without any odour.

Well he looks ok. Maybe a bit of fur thinning around the back of the head perhaps. That maybe shows more on a long haired hamster. See what happens after two to four weeks of linseeds :-) I did mention a pinch of linseeds a day didn't I? Haven't read back.

If you do go with homemade bedding, make sure to press it down until firm (not with the ham in of course) in the enclosure so he can tunnel and walk on top of it. It's also a good idea for store bought bedding too, helps hold proper burrows. Here in the States you can get big packs of paper towels for dirt cheap at hardware stores, I used to do it years ago with a paper shredder. It makes great bedding, very absorbent unsurprisingly and excellent odor control. It pays itself off quick
