Henry

That’s such a shame it’s hard for you to get the flax sprays, I hope you can find some more for Henry soon, I usually buy quite a stash at once & keep them in the freezer.

His second favorite is mealworms, which he always takes. I found a decent sized batch of 100 G I can get, so he will have his flax hunts soon enough. I am going to start growing some at home too.

Henry came out at lunchtime to say hi, he took the last of that little treat bag from his Christmas gifts. He had a lot to say!

I wonder if you need to dry flax seed heads or pick them at a particular stage? I have been thinking of growing hamster forages. The sunflower seed sprouts certainly go down well!

Flax seed pods dry naturally on the stem late in the summer when they grow outside, not sure if it’s possible to get them to flower if grown in a pot indoors, it would be a big plant. I have flax growing in the garden, wait until the seed is right then pick it if the mice don’t get there first.

It must be so cute to hear Henry making little noises like that. I have never had a vocal hamster. :)
My favorite is his "come over" chirp. Today I heard it after a few quiet days, we had a big adventure. Henry seems to enjoy having clutter near my bedroom closet, it's his favorite spot. He loves exploring my laptop tray, and had a ball with some empty cashews and peanut jars.

I'm going to clear out the bottom and put in the extra platforms and things he hasn't been using. It can be his own little rest spot, I hope he will like it.

Henry finally explored the Niteangel platforms and ramps I got him ages ago. The spare wheel was still by it, and he liked it so much he was on it for almost an hour.

I also got 5 minutes of snuggles, I was unsure if he needed me to move so he could go between me and the wall. He got very chatty when his human nook went away. He was also all over me, most affectionate he's been in a while.

Using the bottom of the closet as his own little 2nd home seems to be a hit. For today I'm offering his wheel in place of the sandbath so he can compare. It's apparently top secret science, not fit for human eyes:

Forbidden Science

Aw, Henry is just so cute! Did you put the second wheel in his cage? He looks like he is very curious about it. :)
