Henry

Thanks everyone 😞 It was a dislocated hip and they believe they set it back into place correctly. Henry is back home and still a little scared. Gave me a soft 'leave me be' nibble when I gave him a checkup around 8 pm here and left him breakfast in bed with a bit of cheese and pumpkin seeds. He chose to move to his old nap spot which is great as it's shallow and now very flat without the wheel.

His beloved cheese tile, water, and food are all next to him. Still taking him to his primary vet Monday for a follow-up, hopefully he keeps up his appetite and there's no internal damage. He's being a real little trooper.

That is good news. Poor Henry - did he need an anaesthetic? Good idea to still take him for the check up on Monday.
Yeah, they gave him a local anesthesia. He's a smart little ham and resting up in his nook, his range of movement looked good when he was leaving the carrier though.

I hope it stays in place now! It's bound to be sore though. Did they have to do it under x ray to put it back, or just by feel?

That is amazing! You have such good vets where you are. Hamster vet care has certainly advanced in your area. Great that he is under such skillful care and under medication. Brave Henry, get better soon ❤️

I know they took one to get a look at him as they asked for approval, but I wasn't in the room for the procedure. The only place I could find had a curbside service. Was a bit different than what I was used to.

Oh, poor Henry 😢 Sending healing hammy hugs ❤️
Thank you very much! He is currently napping on the pumpkin seed I gave him for you

Poor little Henry, I hope he gets better soon
Thank you Steve!! I'm hopeful, he still has his appetite and personality in full.

Thank you Socks' Mum! His main vet is absolutely stellar, and Henry seems to like her. His little nose really gets going when she holds him. It's adorable

I'm afraid we're back at the hospital, and the first place with the curbside assistance was completely wrong. Its cancer, this whole mass is a tumor. That first place was likely a scam and I am livid at them.

We're discussing options, but it's a pretty large tumor. Money isn't an object, and I love him to bits. Will do what's best for him without question.

Update: I've opted to get Henry surgery to remove the mass, soonest he can have it is the 11th. In the meanwhile he's getting anti inflammatory medication and also a diet supplement.

So sorry ilguy. I guess it was there before and just pushed the leg out of place as it got bigger.

Thanks everyone, they say he has a decent chance if they get it all and at least gets all his stuff back now I know his hip is actually okay. I'm keeping his Monday appointment with his main vet and getting her opinion too, she is amazing.

🤞Lots of treats for Henry until Monday :-)
He came out right away when I called for medication time, and I failed at picking him up. I'm out of practice sadly, he was never a fan.

But I tried offering him the tip of the syringe when he was sitting down and he actually drank it willingly on his own. Wouldn't take a treat and went back to bed. He's a little smartie, and tomorrow I will have to do better.
