Higgins

Its lovely to see how pleased he is with all the delightful things in his forage boxes. It is a bit worrying when they pouch dandelion roots 😧 but they seem to manage them OK ❤🐾
I know :-) It was slightly concerning as it was a bit long, but as you might be able to see on the video (and I did shorten that part), he spent quite a long time nibbling it down until it fitted. I thought he was going to give up but nope!

Amazing! A whole whimzee! That's quite large, even for the small whimzees!

That is super cute! Are all the items in the forage boxes edible, or is there substrate and other surfaces to make it a puzzle?

It's all edible I think. Not quite sure what's in there. It was just called a mini forage box :-) It seems to be flowers and herbs etc. They both like rooting and digging in them so there must be the odd tasty morsel worth rooting and digging for!

Such a sweet little gift

Tino has two of them as well 😊. I’ve put the one he was most interested in in his cage now.

Higgins says thank you. If you were here he would climb up your leg too 😀

As mentioned on Tino’s thread, I accidentally woke the hamsters a bit early tonight, tidying some treats near their cages. So they both woke up thinking it was feeding time - which is normally 9pm ish - but I fed them anyway.

I noticed last night that Higgins seems to now be living in his ceramic hide in the centre of the cage - it’s packed so full that the lid keeps sitting at a slight angle. That was confirmed tonight when I looked in his house and it was pretty empty and not even much bedding left in it. He had lived in that house for the whole 15 months he’S been here! I can only assume it was the last time I spot cleaned his house that made him decide to decamp. I hope he isn’t peeing in the ceramic hide as well! No sign of pee in the house.

He also keeps knocking over the hay hose that is meant to be a step up to the house - which I keep straightening and find it on its side again. I assumed he had been burrowing under it from inside the house (which he’s done before) but it seems not as he’s not living in the house. So it needs pushing down firmly - but I didn’t do that yet as he got quite agitated that I was looking in his house!

This is what Higgins does when he decides he wants out of the playpen - tries to climb my leg 😊. He did get up almost as far as my knee at one point - under my trousers - which hurt! Sticking his little claws in. As soon as he’s back in the cage, he wants out again! He is still incredibly fast.

And being weighed (229g). These and the video above were taken a few days ago. He and Tino are currently almost exactly the same weight. Tino is 230g now.

At first he sat on the front so I couldn't read the scales!
