She looks like a round little pudding.
Lilly was out freeroaming at 08.00 after the alarm clock (Scottie) had gone off.

Clive and Jack got up for their porridge and Clive sat by his door watching Lilly. It was almost like he was debating whether to throw a jealousy tantrum or go to bed.
Jack also sat on his shelf and watched but he likes his nest, pouched some food and trotted off. Clive did the same then.

It is very interesting to observe the dynamics between hamsters living in the same room. They are very aware of each other.
Ozzy was an exception. He was oblivious to anything outside his Hamster Heaven. He really lived in a world of his own.

That does sound really interesting. It is like they provide entertainment for each other.

Lilly is out again and jumped around me while i was eating a banana. I gave her a tiny taste.
I'm aware of the diabetes risk but all my dwarfs had health issues that killed them with cancer being the major one.
Not one of them made it to 2 and i was very aware of their dietary needs, avoided fruit and opted for healthy treats only.
I've decided to be a little more relaxed with Lilly and let her have the odd treat like a yipee or a tiny taste of fruit.
I want to let her enjoy her life while she can because the odds are against her genetically.

The odds do seem to be stacked against them & with proper care overall the odd treat doesn’t harm them, did she enjoy her banana?

She sniffed it first and then ate it. No pouching and hiding it this time.

When she stops running around she goes to sleep under the motorcycle helmet on the floor where Rory used to sit and doze off.
Funny how she picks the same spot but at least i know where to find her when she goes quiet.

Lilly is so adorable! I think she would be a great character in a children's book. :)

Madam objects to the acrylic panel inside her door when she makes her way out and nipped my thumb in protest today!

When she wanted out in the afternoon i put a fleece hammock down for her and madam approved after a quick test nibble.

Should have called her Diva.

I was worried that Lilly might knock the bendy bridge on its side fence over and block the hole leading to her cage.
Not likely but we are talking spirited dwarf here.

She now has a little shed in her loft instead that doubles as a water bowl holder, see DIY thread.

Aww, she really was excited by the crock, great videos, shes such a character!

I've taken the big house out and replaced it with a large shelf to free up burrowing space.
There was no hoard in the house and the substrate looked untouched.
See what she says when she wakes up.

The little monkey! She kept jumping of that green ledge so i've replaced it with a small ladder.

Gotta love how some hamsters will yeet themselves off anything if it's the slightest inconvenience to walk around a different way!
I think the problem is the ledge of the shelf. She seems to see it as a barrier and won't step over it. The access to the other shelves leads over the ledge which doesn't work with this one because she needs to be able to walk out of her cage so i need a level area by her door.

I run out of time and had to go out but need to observe if she gets used to it, possibly rethink or take the shelf out to level out the ledge! While i'm at it, i'd just as well lay out the red carpet for madam to walk on.

The coco was dry but turned out not to be enough so mixed it with some aspen. Lilly went up to her loft for a look, sniff and nibble but realized that it wasn't edible and lost interest.

Could the edge come off the shelf?

How do you manage knowing 100% if she is in her burrow or out of her cage if she can come and go as she pleases? I think I'd be so paranoid if Snowy could go back home by herself during play area time.

I think they’re connected AJ.
