Lilly is definitely the boss! I think once a hamster trusts being handled, they don't nip - and it's probably reactive fear due to them being prey.

I did wonder if Pip would nip me yesterday when I was holding him for a health check. But he didn't - he squeaked when he'd had enough. But then I have held him before.

Hmm, Lilly demanded to get let out at 05.30 this morning which is not acceptable and neither of us got up. She gave up after a while and went to bed.
I'll wait and see how it's going to work out when the clocks go forward but if she continues to wake us up That early then Lilly will end up in a tank!

Oh dear! Was she bar chewing?

I'm not sure because i wasn't awake enough to sit up and look but don't think so. Lilly climbs but i've restricted that with acrylic panels. The dead end tube bit stops her from monkey barring which i know, annoys her. She setimes goes a bit mad inside that tube like she tries to push the end cap off.

I must watch to find out how exactly she manages to make enough noise to wake us up and what i can do about it without moving her into a different type of cage.

I do like morning hams!
Maybe some earplugs would help! Hope you can figure how she’s making all the racket & find a way to stop it so you can at least have a bit of a lie in.

Or move her cage to another room? It's surprising how much racket they can make without doing very much. When Raffy eats a whimzee inside his house, it bangs against the inside of the house!

I could swap her with Eddie where she's been originally, next to Clive. Not sure that would be a good idea though. It's easier for me to spot clean her cage and loft where she is now and Eddie likes that corner he's in.
I'll wait and see till the clocks go forward and try and find out how she makes such a racket. I may have to add another acrylic panel to the bars where the shelf is.
I don't mind her coming out in the morning at a reasonable time but not 05.30!

I know where Lilly climbs and need to attach one more acrylic panel. She stopped making a racket early morning when i didn't get up but she's out now and digging after a good run around. Lilly sat on my hand for a while which is nice and she lets me stroke her.

Lovely photo! She looks so fluffy in your hand :-)

She is quite fluffy. Lilly spent most of the afternoon outside her cage again. She slept in that hide for about 1.5 hrs.

I'm feeding the hamsters early because i'm going to work. For Lilly early means now.
There's a treat hidden she can smell but hasn't found yet.

Ha! That didn't take long. Just saw Lilly running around excitedly carrying her treat. She's nibbling it now.

Aww Lilly 😍 Her little face in the vid wondering where the delicious smell is coming from! Lilly’s a treat herself 😍

Hello little snowball. She is a joy to watch.

Lilly was out for two hours this morning and full of energy running around, on the wheels, on and off our feet then slept in the hide for half hour.
I thought Clive was the hamster who spends the most time out of his cage but it's definitely Lilly. She's often out in the morning and sometimes afternoon or evening as well.

I had to go to work this morning and Lilly who was waiting by her door wasn't happy.

Soon as i came home this afternoon she was by her door again so i let her out.

Lilly went straight to that fluffy hide to sleep!

That hide has Clive's scent on it because he's forever pulling it about and sniffing it.
I wonder if that's the attraction for Lilly. Maybe she thinks it belongs to another hamster so she wants it.

😆 what a cutie!

Lilly has been out since 07.00 but i need to get ready to collect this Syrian girl mentioned in the second chance hamsters thread! She is so strong willed and won't let me pick her up until she wants to get picked up.
