Neptr is my 1.5 year old Syrian Hamster, born Dec-Jan 2021. He is a beautiful long-haired boy. He is from a breeder called Towy Vale, who works with the Southern Hamster Club. I don't think I would support the NHC after learning more about them, though. He's quite reserved, and whilst he'd accept an occasional pick up to be moved, doesn't like sitting still for too long.

Neptr lives in his 120x60cm PLATSA. I do think in the upcoming months him and his neighbour, Cowboy, will be moving into the 120x50cm BUCATSTATE stackable cages.

Unfortunately, as of the moment, he's experienced a little beetle problem. I didn't want to whack it on that initial post though! I've not seen any beetles recently, so maybe another week and he'll get all of his things back. The poor boy hasn't ever known a home that is only a few inches of sawdust (currently on CHIPSI, not pine!), but he is taking it like a champ.

It's been a real pain in the bum. One beetle means multiple beetles so it's been a few weeks now in his sadly renovated cage. I think it has gotten so much better though, but I did see a beetle a week or so ago, so just not confident in spending so much money to fill it with bedding right now.

He's lovely

He’s a gorgeous boy :-). My Robo Pip was decamped to a temporary cage for almost a month due to me doing a full cage clean after suspected moths - and wanting to redo his set up for old age. It was longer than I intended but he’s happily back in his old cage now.

I would think if you disinfect the entire cage and contents it would be perfectly safe to move him back. Unless the beetles are coming into the cage from the room? But it probably isn’t that or you’d be having the same issue with his temporary cage.

The 120cm Bucatstate's are released in October, according to their team. I asked a few months ago so things may have changed since. Cowboy has a new upgrade on the way which is the PawHut 115cm, as he wasn't doing well in his Savic.

Unfortunately, beetles are a real pain to get rid of. Everything has to be sanitised multiple times, things need to be baked and even froze multiple times. Thankfully, there is less and less. I just need a couple weeks to be completely clear of them before putting everything back in.

Neptrs new cage!!!

A mild theme of pink but I quickly realised I wasn’t obsessed. It’s hard to give them their needs but have a colour palette.

I think I’m the next months he will have more pink ceramics, but the top of the bedding with be a natural theme.

I hope you all like it. I’m aware of the empty space towards the wheel but have spent so much so will have to be towards the end of the month.

This cage has about 4 bags of kaytee 85l and I still think it could do with one or twin more.

It looks amazing and how lovely to see Neptr looking so cosy.😍

Neptr has been wonderfully active. I catch him many mornings and occasionally when I wake up throughout the night. I’m so glad he’s active. His neighbour, cowboy, has not dealt with the move as well, but in time we hope!

Neptr has also lived in this cage his entire life. Ever since I bought him home in a bucket, he’s lived in this PLATSA. i imagine this made the move much easier as his smell already stuck to the walls of the cage.

Here are some photos of a slightly renovated setup. I was really upset with how his cage came out. I have always always done natural themes and I guess the white/pink didn’t do what I thought it would.

Here’s also a photo from where I weighed him!

It looks really nice :) It's like a combination of white and pink plus natural.
