I could do with adjusting the layout of his bedding area. Having the kitchen roll tube (cut open into an arch) sideways is useful for holding the bedding in place but it makes it useless as cover for when he's going back and forth. He seems less comfortable up there and when he goes back and forth between his burrow and his sand area he zooms across the top of the bedding as fast as he can.

Could you maybe just do a quick fix with some small cardboard boxes open at the ends or more cardboard tubes on top so he has something to run through?

Yeah I think that's what I'm going to do. I am very fond of cardboard enrichment :)

Realised I had a spare tunnel already that is an ideal fit

I had a shy foster Robo who didn't like to feel exposed. I made her a 'tree' with a kitchen roll tube and pick 'n fly sprays stuck in it. She often sat under her 'tree'.

That sounds like a lovely idea! I might have some grass sprays left over (from a bag of pick 'n fly) that I could put against the side of the enclosure too to make it a little less exposed. Snowy has never shown any interest in eating those!

That's exactly what i do with the sprays they don't eat. I use them to give a bit of extra cover.

He is so gorgeous! He looks like he is having a lot of fun there. :)

He’s a busy little man & so adorable 😍
I haven’t got furniture so I could have another hamster!

I have moved furniture around several times to accommodate another hamster.....😄
My room is pretty small and I have to have space for guests sleeping over once a fortnight. Otherwise I'd probably give up my sofa for him! If there was a decent barless enclosure a little over 80x50 I'd probably be able to squeeze it in but he really needs a maxi duna or a zoozone 2 and that's just not feasible. (I'm surprised nobody is making a zoozone/duna like enclosure that's just over 80x50 as it'd be hugely popular for people with limited space)

If Snowy hadn't recovered so well I'd probably also contemplate downsizing her to a hamster heaven or something but she's still able to get about her maxi duna and enjoying having all the burrowing space so it wouldn't be fair.

I think he's appreciating the added hides and diving from one to the other :-) I don't think he'd mind a guest sleeping in his room once a fortnight!

Yeah, I don't think the visitor will bother him at all, as brave as he is. It just means I don't have anywhere to put another large enclosure...

Little guy took seeds from my fingers for the first time today! He also nibbled my thumb a little but that's fine, it was a curious nibble not a bite.
