This is Pudding, she was surrendered to the guinea pig rescue where I volunteer, she was very overweight as you can see from the before and after page. When she was surrendered I was told ”He was a boy, and was 3 years old ” 🙈 Tonight she is moving into a plaza cage from the temporary hamster heaven cage. To be honest she had difficulty in moving about at first due to her weight but now she zooms. It's also a sad day as Wren the robo passed away last week so it's her cage pudding has inherited.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear Wren has passed away. Pudding looks so healthy now. :)

Thanks, it's all her hard work. I just provided the correct food. I have discovered she hates vegetables. 😆who knows what she was fed before. 😟

Aw, not to worry. I am sure you will find lots of other foods she enjoys. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about Wren. My Robo also passed away a week ago, and I'm also adopting a Russian Dwarf hamster soon :)

Pudding is really gorgeous and you've done a great job getting her healthy and active again. I have never heard of a hamster who didn't like veggies lol!

I'm also using the Plaza for my new Russian Dwarf hamster when she comes (and had used it for my robo before) :)

I don't think she's ever had any before. I don't even know how old she is. Same as I don't know how old my Syrian hamster is either. (he was on gumtree advertised as a two and a half years old hamster)I know he's older but no idea how old. 😟

I have a Russian Dwarf and he is not interested in vegetables either. He likes broccoli sometimes but he really is not bothered about them. :)

Ah yes - have you tried broccoli? Most hamsters seem to like that. Or a parsley leaf maybe?

Pudding is really gorgeous & looking so healthy now, she’s a lucky girl you found her.
I think all my Russians loved broccoli but not all other veg, they can be a bit picky, red pepper is usually popular.

I’m really sorry for your loss of little Wren, it’s always hard to lose them.

By the way we have a section called Rainbow Bridge Corner, if you wanted to post a memorial to Wren at some point. But people have different ways of coping and I find it does help to focus on a new hamster.

Lovely to meet Pudding 💕
I'm so sorry for your loss of Wren 💕

I have a Russian Dwarf called Albert and he loves all vegetables.

That is adorable! It is lovely to get an update on Pudding. :)
She's hiding out in her burrows. 🤣they got a mystery box the other day and enjoyed some peanuts from that. And some dried veg mix & forage. Not tried the coconut yet. IMG_20231012_102600517_BURST000_COVER.jpg

Ooh that looks really exciting. I've never had a mystery box before. I love the little green dish and there are some nice sprays. All mine have loved the dried coconut.

I've never given any of my Hamsters coconut before. Excited to try.

I've sometimes given them fresh coconut as well. I used to get the little snack pots from the supermarket - for myself sometimes and give some to the hamsters. Both Syrians and robos loved it. Also we had an actual coconut recently so gave them some of that while it lasted.
