Hammie Heart
Hi, I've been wondering what type of seeds I can feed Little Bear. (Chinese) Any or all recommendations are welcomed! I'm just trying to get a feel of what seeds are safe and what seeds are not.

Are the above safe for all hamsters? Here are lots of options from my database:
Barley
Maize (aka corn)
Millet
Oats (whole are best but rolled are safe too)
Rye
Sorghum (aka milo, sorghum)
Wheat
Alfalfa seeds
Buckwheat
Caraway seed
Coriander seed
Grass seeds (but only if you can be sure it's not treated. I wouldn't use grass seeds intended for growing. Small bird foods often contain grass seeds which you can feed)
Quinoa
Anise seed
Basil seed
Camelina seed
Celery seed
Cumin seed
Dill seed
Fennel seed
Flaxseed (aka linseed)
Hemp seed
Milk thistle seed
Niger seed
Perilla seed
Pine nuts
Pumpkin, squash or melon seeds (I would wash the juice off the latter if giving to a Chinese)
Rapeseed
Safflower seed
Sesame seed
Sunflower seed
Yes they are Frida. Are the above safe for all hamsters?
Albert: will you please stop giving out unwanted advice.Daisy got it covered!
I would just add that some seeds are very high in fat so go easy on those.
Sunflower, pumpkin, hemp & flax are all high in fat but flax is very good for them so a pinch of those daily is fine, nuts are all high in fat too so not too many of those.
My Chinese all love pine nuts but only get them as an occasional treat, they really seem to like buckwheat too which is very healthy for them, they can have it in the shell, shelled or sprouted.
I am not sure you will get them for that price. Are you in US? If so, Niteangel sprays on Amazon and Etsy are options.Okay! I am thinking about purchasing some sprays. Where and what kind? Is there a good bundle of different ones for under fifteen dollars? (I want to keep the price to a minimum because there are several other expensive things I need to buy for him)
I love Niteangel products.I'll look around Etsy, and Niteangel. (aren't their product really good?)
Just in case you do not know, you can freeze the sprays for a week before putting them in your hamsters cage. This is just a precaution in cause there are any bugs.He already has Full Cheeks Millet Clusters as well.
