Thanks!! I'll pick some up tomorrow while I'm out, they're just what I need.

Turns out I was wrong about the friendliness 🤣 considering how much I'm currently bleeding! Little bugger. She was out and about just now so I figured I would sit and talk to her, she was pretty enthusiastic about this so I thought maybe she would take a treat from me? Wrong! She went straight past the sunflower seed and bit my finger and hand several times.. hurts considerably more than when Orsa used to do that 😅 she did eventually take the sunflower seed but I think I will back off for a few more days and just let her get used to things. The lady won't be rushed!

Lovely photos of her again, she’s a little beauty.
Maybe it was just your hand being in the cage? Some of them aren’t too keen, I’ve had some painful bites a few times too & it really does hurt! Most of them do grow out of it though.

It most likely was, bless her. I cant imagine she's had many nice experiences of hands going into her cage, just to shift her into a new place each time, on top of having to defend a territory from the others she was kept with. Orsa was pretty similar to start with so I'm sure with time she will settle too, she's still just a baby yet with very few positive human experiences.

I must admit I'm a little concerned with how often she is drinking though, every time I woke in the night I could hear her at the bottle, but then again maybe she didn't get much opportunity before with all the shifting around she's had and fighting. Something to keep an eye on anyway, maybe have a look at the diet for diabetic hamsters just in case.

The drinking could be a concern, I’ve sometimes had similar concerns with new hams, that they seem to drink a lot more than expected but then it’s settled down so maybe just part of getting used to the new cage but something to keep an eye on, always best to have them on a low sugar diet anyway just to be on the safe side.

I am wondering if its more the fact that Orsa and Pasha slowed down and maybe weren't drinking as often as they should be, rather than Saffy drinking too much, shes drank about 20ml since arriving?

We did make a small breakthrough today, she was awake just now while I was getting changed to go running and very eager to say hello again through the cage, so I offered her a few pieces of science selective food in exchange for stepping onto my hand, she happily hopped on and only went to nip once she ran out of food which is fair enough 🤣 she's bimbled off to go stash it away for later now.

About 20ml in 3 days (I think?) doesn’t sound that much really, maybe a bit more than I would normally expect but not by much & there’s probably some drips from the bottle too so doesn’t sound like anything to worry about at this stage.
Great that she’s happy to climb onto your hand for some food now.

Nice little step forward today, after encouraging her onto my hand 3 times with 3 sunflower seeds, after only 2 nips that didn't break the skin...she hopped onto my hand with absolutely no encouragement, no biting and got a sunflower seed once she had hopped off. She even let me stroke her!

Oh that is good progress! And I also love her colouring. You must be feeling very happy that you actually had some contact. There was a moment when she sniffed your thumb where I thought there might be a nip :-) But she was just checking you out and knows you're safe now.

I really wondered what I'd got myself into the first time 🤣 my hands felt like I'd grabbed a hedgehog for a few days she got me that many times 😅
But it's lovely she's realising I'm not going to do anything bad to her, very happy with how she's doing.
