Maybe the nipping will stop after the 27th! Hopefully she isn't pregnant, but if she is, it might be another reason for the behaviour.

I was thinking that too 😅 she doesn't seem as round as she previously did.. I dont go poking around her nests so I'd imagine I should probably add a couple weeks onto the end date just in case as the first I will probably know about a birth is when the little ones start escaping the nest.
Unless the babies squeak? I really hope she isn't pregnant because I feel so unprepared if she is 🤦‍♀️ as lovely as lots of hamsters would be!

So..im hoping its just because she has settled into our routine now, but I've actually not seen her for a couple of days. I hear her come out for food, water and a quick zoom on her wheel at night but no sign of her when the light is on. She doesn't even come out at the sound of me scattering her seed mix around.

Hmm. Maybe she is pregnant. I would wait and watch and listen.

It is still possible she’s pregnant although there haven’t really been any signs of that yet.
They do sometimes go through phases like this as part of the settling in process so I wouldn’t worry too much.

She must have heard me 🤣 just going to bed and there's a little face greeting me! She did make me laugh, I put my hand in and she walks over, puts her front feet on my finger and then walks away in disgusting that I didn't bring any food offerings 😂

I hadn't noticed how massive her ears are but they're huge 😅

That’s lovely that she’s back out again to see you, be prepared next time! I can just imagine her disgust at no treats 😆
She does have gorgeous ears, she’s got more of the Campbell’s look about her.

Saffron is very pretty 😍 I love her big ears 😍

I've been trying since last night to try to figure out what her ears remind me of, and finally realised its cherry blossom petals 😅

I'm glad we're becoming friends though, usually when I don't have food she bites me 🤣 so I'll take the disgusted looks. Although I should probably move the nut and seed treats upstairs so that doesn't happen again! She does deserve rewards for being brave.

So after a period of concern, little ghost hamster is out and about again tonight 🤣

I was going to attempt some more taming but I've steroid cream on my hands and didn't want to risk her ingesting any so I just scattered some food for her, spoke to her for a bit and said goodnight. But I'm glad she's looking nice and healthy.

We still have no sign of any babies so fingers crossed she has escaped a pregnancy bless her. Her underside still looks normal so I doubt she's nursing anyone either, which is a relief. So, just chunky then 😅

If she's been hiding away it does make you wonder if she's had babies! But if you can tell she's not nursing ...............

Sounds like she’s just been settling in & making herself at home in her cage to me, she looks a normal size for a healthy young Russian & I couldn’t see anything to suggest she may have been pregnant tbh.
Glad she popped out to say hello & lovely to see some more of her, she is beautiful.

Certainly helps she's so beautiful 😅 such a photogenic little lady.

I must admit I heard squeaking last week and freaked out but it was a bird outside the window 😂😂

I'm hoping I can bribe her out this evening with some seeds, see how we're doing with the biting etc now she's a little more settled.

I exchanged a spoonful of her seed mix for my life earlier, no bites..she didn't even try 😄 she still seems quite jittery but she's certainly getting there. I've slipped a disc in my back so I have been avoiding lifting anything or carrying animals around as much as possible so my plan of encouraging her out for some floor time/bonding hasn't happened but she seems content enough now with having me in her space at least.
