Teddyx

Morning everyone ๐Ÿฅฐ Teddy had a good night last night, he's having to get over his enclosure clean yesterday so he's getting over that! He had 2 peas ๐Ÿซ›and his Nibblot on his dish. I don't expect him to take much interest in the new lounge tunnel as you know they take a while to adjust to something new! It will be interesting to see how long it takes him, as if mummy cleaning his ensuite and hoard wasn't enough to contend with. Bless him! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿน Ness

Teddy has had a couple of good days, he's certainly changed his routine. He's been doing his usual thing and then as a bonus he's been coming out of his multi chamber house ๐Ÿก and sitting on top by his dishes and water and having some breakfast ๐Ÿฅž with us! It's lovely,we chat to him and he eats and drinks quite relaxed. It's like he was when I got him. I hope he keeps doing it ๐Ÿฅฐwho knows. Last night he had broccoli ๐Ÿฅฆ and carrot ๐Ÿฅ• and his Nibblot ( of course) all gone this morning. He has inspected his tunnel but I can't see signs of him going in yet ! It's very early days. He's having new sprays today, hopefully he'll like them.๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿน Ness

I canโ€™t find a photo but this was the one I bought, it looked big enough on the foto

I would be careful of tunnels with small openings like that (on the side) as a hamster might could get stuck in them. It probably isn't safe. The ones with one, two or three large openings are better. They are not all the same. Also the top part has slots in a hamster could get a foot caught in. If you look at this Niteangel one, it just has two large openings. The top opening is still quite narrow, but it's wide so a hamster can't get their head stuck, because they can flatten themselves and still get through widthwise. And the top part is solid. Some things made for hamsters just aren't safe or suitable. Even if the holes are big enough for a dwarf hamster, the slots on top are a bit risky, but they could easily be covered with a piece of wood glued on top.

Aw Teddy sounds like he is doing so well. Has he had any out of cage time yet? :-) I hope your back has recovered. Lovely he interacted with you and kept an eye on you. I bet he would do well with some out of cage handling gradually now - in the bathtub or a playpen eg. The easiest way is to offer him something like a rat tube through the enclosure with a bit of cucumber at your end inside it. That tempts them to walk into the tube, then you put your hands over either end and transport them to the safe out of cage area - if it's close by. If it's further away, it's better to have a box nearby and put the tube down in a box so they walk out, then take the tube out and carry the box to the safe area. If carrying them in the tube, it's ok for a short distance, but they can push quite hard against your hand which can make you jump! And you wouldn't want to risk dropping it.

Once they get used to walking into a tube or taxi, they are trained to do it basically, every time you offer them a tube, so it's an easy way to get them back again without having to stress them out. I've added the taming guide :-) Once they are hand tame and easy to pick up and stroke, it makes life a lot easier if they ever have to go to the vets and is also less stressful for them if they're used to handling.

That one is fine :-) Is he using it? It must be lovely seeing him through the glass.

The tunnel can be burrowed up into or down out of the hole in the top is 70ml the same as his multi chamber ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿน Ness

He isn't using it yet, but it hasn't been in 48 hours yet so it's early days,we all know how bashful he is, it's just patience with teddy ๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’– Ness

Teddy is moving around underneath the new lounge tunnel, if you watch the paper... It's moving well can't stop staring at the enclosure ! I'm holding my breath waiting for teddy to pop up in the lounge.. I'm poised!!! ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿน Ness

Teddy ๐Ÿงธ didn't go up into his new tunnel last night? We were poised - he was so close. It's early days and it's so good that he was interested in it, can't wait to catch him.. camera poised ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ™ Ness

We're changing the cameras in the enclosure at the moment! We have lots of cameras here what with the chickens and unusual birds. Going to try 2 one at each end.๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿน Ness

Teddy had a fabulous night last night, he was all over his enclosure, putting the extra camera in really helped us to get a better view. I changed his sprays as well, the others were ready to go. He was ok with the new sprays apart from one lot that I put by his cleaning station, so he had is wash in his big sandbath. I'll move that this morning! They really don't like anything moved even when it has to be ๐Ÿซฃthe old sprays were well ready to be changed ๐Ÿน๐Ÿฅฐ on his dish he had 2 peas ๐Ÿซ› his Nibblot and a dandelion root, all gone this morning! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿน Ness

I placed my camera on the other side of the room to get a full view ๐Ÿ˜… but the night vision is not the best. The eyes look so scary. Last night he was looking for me after i went to bed. Then run in his wheel until 3 am

He's just checking them out :-) Is he now ignoring them? Raffy used to give disgusted looks at the "obstacle" that had appeared and then trample over them as if they were in the way ha ha.
