Charlie Boy

Glad he’s enjoying blankets :-) A blanket on the sofa can really be a cosy fun exploration! He’s looking very well. Had to laugh at the poop throwing.

Hey Folks,
Its been a long time since any updates from Charlie and me, Since November our last up date we have had so happenings in our family lives which are ongoing and will be for quite some time.
Anyway, Charlie is still being Charlie though he is now an older gentleman who still likes to build the biggest Hammy Burrow by scraping his substrate into a massive pile so much I have to take his house off the top. He is happy to stay in his cage though I do let him out for a sofa roam but he seems happier in his cage with its variety of hidey holes etc. He has been looking a little ragged of late and seemed to be losing some of his fur, but that has regrown. His age is at least 18months old possibly 19 months but he seems happy enough he is still eating his hammy food and his fresh food daily and he still likes his roast chicken dinners, and roast Beef, Duck, avocado, cheese, a little savoury pastry, and digestive biscuit not to mention his bistro salad and fresh sweetcorn..

Great to have a Charlie update. All grown up :-) Yes life throws all sorts at us doesn't it? Charlie sounds to be enjoying his life to the full even if looking a bit raggy :-)

Nice update on Charlie

That's interesting, Socks has thinning fur on his shoulders, head and cheeks. We are going to the vet on the 20th to see what can be done. I changed a lot of his bedding and put a bit of hamster safe insecticidal spray on the base of his cage, under the bedding. He's on his wheel now, having a nice run and has eaten with a normal appetite. His weight is up a bit too. He was about four or five months in December, so must be about eleven months now. How quickly time passes!

Looking forward to seeing some more photos of Charlie!

He’s gorgeous - he looks so cute there. 😊Is he still a shy hamster then? I have one of those.

That is an amazing photo, what a cutie! And he looks so comfortable under there. Glad you're having some quality couch time

That sounds ok - most of my Syrians only wanted to come out a couple of times a week. Raffy and Tino are the exceptions. Raffy out every night and Tino never 🤣

Not sure if you’ve met Tino yet 😊. Here’s his thread ….

Charlie is incredibly gorgeous 😊

Quick update, Charlie has a vast amount of different foods I like to give him a good and varied diet, but if all things what he gets the most pleasure from going by the look on his face are Banana and cheese he never pouches these but just sits up holding them in his paws as he munches them. Though tonight when I came home from work he had a piece of cherry which he part pouched, he looked like he was sticking his tongue out at me... Oh he does rather like a wee bit of poached salmon as a special treat which he will grab and scoot off to eat in private.

Evening Folks,
Been a while since last Update, here is the latest one it's not exciting at all.
Charlie is I reckon knocking on the door of being the grand old age of 2...! He is very spritely for his age too, he likes to exercise on his wheel at certain times of the night, one of these is at dead on 04.45hrs you could set your watch by his antics..!
I'm keeping him well fed with fresh or defrosted veggies and salad with little treats such as roast duck, roast beef, mature cheese (cheddar) a smidgen of salmon, avocado, apple, pear, banana, cherries, watermelon, and normal melon. He loves a bit of pastry too, a little bit of a biscuit and oh a bit of quiche is always welcome in Charlie's eyes... Bliss seems to be a Monkey Nut to him, as listening to him attacking the shell is a sound of joy .
When Charlie is annoyed especially when it is cage clean time he sulks a bit and chirrps at me, then inspects everything I am doing sometimes to grab a morsel of food I am trying to discard.
Each and every Hamster we have owned, every last one of them has been such an individual from the permanently peeved teenager such as Ghost to the Queen of the camera lens Pip the Drama Queen who would pose as soon as I got a camera out..

Charlie has such a wonderful variety of things to eat, he must be a healthy hammy ❤️ Very sweet fellow!

I can almost visualise all that :-) Great description of Charlie's personality. And I know what you mean - they do all have their own personalities. I like them at this age as they are very used to you, a little bit older and wiser, and possibly more tolerant and calm (if tetchy at times as well) but still active.
