The way Clive loves you is so cute to me. I pictured him firing his poops like missiles hoping to scare the new hamster away. I love that he settled once you held him. He really loves his mum.

I can just imagine you carrying him like a baby :) He does sound a bit jealous. Raffy gets like that if I talk to Pip’s cage (even if Pip isn’t visible).

Yes, guess they are just like children, all wanting the attention. Made me chuckle with the poop throwing, cheeky fella.

Clive is a very sensitive hamster and easily stressed. In some ways he's very confident but in other ways he's very childlike.

He can be very vocal and sometimes without a cause obvious to us. He gets spooked.
Clive has squealed loudly like a piglet just because someone talked to him, he squawkes and makes guttural sounds like a pigeon. When i took him to the vet he did all these noises at once at top volume because a stranger handled him. Soon as i took him back and held him against me he was quiet.
He's like a baby sometimes.
I love him. Just LOVE him.

We are making progress here. I think Clive is getting used to Lilly. I just sat by Lilly's cage with Clive and watched her run on her wheel. He was surprisingly calm, ears up and watching her as well.
Clive was up very early tonight so had a lot of free roaming time and interaction with me before we sat by Lilly's cage.
So glad he's happier now. He really is a very sensitive hamster.

I remember you saying he was sensitive. He needed to know you still love him even though Lilly is there!

You really know Clive so well and are able to understand his behaviour. It is so lovely Clive is happier with his new neighbour now.

Clive's fur has kind of grown back but he's a much lighter colour than he was originally. He's never had a thick coat and he's always been very soft and warm to touch.

His calmer now as well, easier to pick up and seems happy.

It's difficult to get a photo of him when he's out because he's constantly on the move.

I can see his fur has grown back. He looks so healthy and well. :)

Clive and Jack were out freeroaming with the devider up and Jack wanted to go home. I picked Jack up and carried him back to his cage. I chatted and stroked him for a bit while sitting on the futon by his cage.

Next thing Clive came running and bit my little toe! It was a proper bite and not just an annoyed nibble.

So i put Jack in his cage and watched Clive run around like he was a bit mad.
I caught Clive and put him back in his cage and now i'm trying to figure out what this was all about.

Could Clive be trying to tell you, you are his and no other hamster can have you? He sounds a bit jealous perhaps.

Attention - jealousy!

It does send a message - "how dare you?!"

I'm planning on cleaning Clive's cage tomorrow. It's a bit miffy. I'm also going to take his tube roof run out because he doesn't use it and what's more, he's put on weight since i've put it in.

He used to look a bit weedy and light weight but he grew into a chunky 200g hamster.

My OH picked him up for the first time the other day and was surprised at how chunky he felt. He's not as hands on as i am with the hamsters. For Clive to become calm enough for my OH to pick him up is not something i expected to happen.
Clive has made so much progress and seems so much happier now.

Aww, it shows what wonderful care Clive has. I hope he does not get upset at you cleaning his cage.

Yes, i haven't figured out the cleaning bit as yet. I need to do it during daylight hours to make sure everything is as it should be. I may just do one half and the other half another day. I don't think i'd be able to completely lift the Plaza top off by myself and my OH is in Austria.
Clive stopped throwing poops at Lilly a while ago so there shouldn't be too many that got caught between top and base.
It may even be wise to wait till my OH is back and do a bit of spot cleaning in the meantime.
